<@Dreol> [Power Sliders! Session 12!] <@Dreol> [You all have escaped from the mob of undead and found yourself trapped in a hospital where you believed you were safe...er. And when approaching the only human being in the area, you discovered that he has been strangled by a very long tongue. Micah identified the creature who did this as a licker and informed you to stay away from ventilation shafts lest you be strangled similarly. Except with more cursing.] <@Dreol> [What will you do now? Will you be strangled to death? Will you fall victim to the horde of zombies banging on the door outside? Will you find the kitchen and bake a pie? Find out on this week's installment of Power Sliders!] <@Dreol> [Begin!] Okay, usually, I just walk around till I find something to shoot... that's not a good option is it? I think not. * Katsuo likes that kitchen idea. He does know how to cook! We walk around until we find the ammo or the keys or the three statue parts or the crank or the seventeen jewels we need to move on. So, we all stick together then? * Lex glances at the door being battered by zombies. "Of course. And try to find the plot, I think." We need to anyway, and it's our best shot at finding the item, too. * Henry looks around for doors not currently being attacked by zombies. Right then. Let the scavenger hunt begin! *starts moving deeper into the hospital* Oh god, there's always a fucking crank. If the item of power is a crank I'm going to shoot someone. * Lex follows Cass, looking for signs or other potentially useful things. * Henry follows the others because getting picked off by zombies would be bad. You forget odd engraving. * Katsuo walks along, similarly searching for possibly useful things. * Micah will follow along, being paranoid and turning his head every which way watching for anything. <@Dreol> [There is an open door behind the strangled man, from the look of the room it appears to be a triage office. Besides that the halls branch out from there to your left and right. The right side seems to have several doors on the left side and an elevator on the right and then turns left at the end of it. The left side is mostly barren of doors except a large set of double ones at the end.] <@Dreol> [The helpful signs indicate that to the right are patient rooms and doctor's offices and to the left is the OR. There is also a sign next to the elevator which you can't read right now.] * Cassiopeia looks around. "Probably can't get to the elevator yet... that office behind the dead guy, then left, then right?" Sure. * Micah mumbles something to himself. * Henry looks back at the door full of zombies. "If you say so." * Cassiopeia nods, and heads into the triage office. * Lex looks back at Micah. "Any guesses about where we might find zombies or other more useful things around here?" You follow a wall. It's always a damn maze, but you just follow the wall and double back on any dead ends. Avoid going to other floors till you cover all you can do on the one you're on. Oh. I guess stuff like that's the same no matter what game you play, unless there's a time limit or something. I doubt the elevator is working, anyway. We'll have to find some stairs. * Henry glances up and to his right as he says that. * Lex is looking around the triage office as she's talking to Micah. Elevator likely need key to work, or need to be fixed. * Micah keeps a watch out for any movement, not paying attention to useful items. <@Dreol> [The triage office is a small room with a couple of chairs and a desk. It's also a mess. There are papers all over the floor which are covered in dried blood. The desk itself has three drawers on the left side and a long central drawer. On top of the desk there is a blue keycard which says "O.R."] * Lex picks up the keycard. * Cassiopeia searches in and under the desk as Lex does that. Well, Katsuo, this might help us get around. Maybe there are other keys here, too. * Henry waits a moment, expecting the item get music, but this isn't Hyrule any more. Good, keep searching. * Katsuo keeps an eye out for zombies, as having a gun makes it easy to point them out. Shoot in general direction, get zombie location! * Henry shuffles papers on the floor, maybe somebody dropped something important. * Cassiopeia finds a couple of unbloodied documents! And starts reading them! * Lex tries to keep searching while also keeping an eye out for zombies. And air vents. Okay... patient came in, zombie, somehow didn't recognize it despite this being a universe filled with zombie infestations, bad stuff happening... That sound very stupid and very normal for video game plot. That's normal. In fact I'm impressed it's that well written...oh god it's a file. Yup. * Cassiopeia scans through the second document... If it was early outbreak, they might not have known. Is this place near where it starts? ... aaaaaaaand then some friendly fellows from Umbrella showed up with an experimental treatment. Guess what happened next? Ummm... which game are we talking about? Zombies everywhere? More zombies! * Micah looks at Henry. "No no, exploding body, babies dying, your mom jokes, and humping mutants." * Cassiopeia stuffs the papers into a pocket. "We've got a key. Let's go to the OR and not get eaten, hmm?" Sounds good. Eww. Good idea. * Lex heads towards the hall. * Micah will just follow them, still a bit jittery watching for anything that might move. * Cassiopeia walks towards the room. "Let's be careful as we go in. Last thing we want is to bumble in like morons and get surrounded." * Kyler goes along as well. * Henry follows the pack and tries to keep an eye out for zombies, vents, and everything else on Micah's list. * Katsuo keeps near the group, ready to shoot zombies. * Kyler pulls out his trusty flashlight and uses it for its intended purpose. <@Dreol> [You push through the double doors to the O.R. section and find yourself in a large waiting room with another receptionist desk. This one has no one behind it. There are several chairs in the waiting room and on the side of them is a metal door that says "Operating Room" above it. and "Authorized personnel only" above the keycard slot.] * Cassiopeia runs over to search the desk. "Someone check under the chairs." * Henry around, and up. * Micah takes point to watch, he's horrible at it, posing exaggeratedly over the others with his gun. * Kyler plays his flashlight under the chairs * Kyler then, if nothing is there, turns his flashlight to go over the drawers for Cass. <@Dreol> [Micah hears some creaking noises coming from one of the dark corners, and also a rattling sound coming from somewhere above him. Under the chairs is nothing of note. And Cass finds that this desk seems to be cleaned out more and nothing worth reading is in it.] Nothing. *looks to Kyler* Nothing? * Kyler turns his flashlight on the corner with the noises! Didn't see anything there... * Lex eyes the creaking corner and pulls out her crossbow. * Henry becomes aware of the general arming of selves and draws his sword. * Micah points his gun at the corner. "Ceiling someone! Cover it!" <@Dreol> [Nothing seems to come out attached to the noise.] * Henry keep looking up then. * Lex points her crossbow up at the ceiling so there are projectiles pointing there too. <@Dreol> [The creaking and rattling seems to have stopped.] Just ambiance, prolly. * Cassiopeia flips off the ceiling, then walks over to the door. "Lex?" * Lex is extremely dry. "Great. Everyone loves ambiance. Whoever heard of a hospital creaking?" * Katsuo points his gun up to the ceiling, but looks around for where other vents may be, should a zombie want to grab one of them all L4D-style. * Henry shrugs and starts to put his sword away. * Lex turns to Cass, rummages around in her pockets for the keycard, and looks around at the others. "How're we doing this?" Other than carefully? Yes. Someone needs to be first through, and someone else needs to be covering from the back, and so on. You've got distance powers, so I'd suggest you open up with one of our gun-wielders to cover you. Dunno. Go in in small groups, spread out, don't get bunched so we can't get surrounded? I'll be behind them with the light, and we need another gun-wielder at the back. Keep close enough so we do not get separated. Splitting up bad in any game. * Micah is still jumping his gun trained at that corner, sure SOMETHING is going to jump out. Okay. But let's not go in small groups. Getting separated *and* surrounded would get us killed. * Henry pulls his sword back out. Sounds good. *hefts her scythe* All right. I'll go first, Micah behind me, you behind him, then Cass and Henry and Katsuo. Sound good? * Kyler nods. * Henry stands near the old man. "Yeah." Anyone needs to pause for any reason, call it out first so's we know. Sure. Sounds good. Let's go. * Micah slowly moves to be behind Lex, clearly scared. * Lex steps up to the door, looks around to make sure everyone's ready, then pops the keycard in and opens the door. Carefully. * Kyler waits, light of desti--lightness at the ready! <@Dreol> [The door... doesn't open. The keycard reader has no light on and seems to have no power.] * Katsuo keeps his gun ready to shoot bad guys! Zombies are bad guys, and therefore will need to be shot! * Lex snorts. "Should've seen that coming. Any other ideas?" ... right. Dammit. Let's find the fuse box, which is missing a fuse, which we have to build from scratch. *mutters; heads to the other hallway* Uhm. Generator someplace? Or a switch or something? * Lex relaxes a little, but not too much, and puts the keycard back in her pocket. FUCK! * Henry looks around for whatever Micah's swearing at. * Lex twitches a little. "What?" <@Dreol> [The other hallway is, as described earlier full of doors on the left side. There's about seven of them. At the end it turns to the left and continues on and there is also an elevator, which also has no power.] * Cassiopeia tries to open the first door once the group catches up. Damn fucking find the fucking power and turn it on but oh wait you don't have the fucking seal to unlock the fucking fuse... I hate these things. And the fuse box is locked with a sliding puzzle... I *hate* sliding puzzles... * Lex casts Micah an exasperated look. ..okay, we're sure that's how this works, then? Wow... I'm kinda glad I never played one of these games. It's a slow time for adventure games. I take what I can get. That's... that's how these fucking things go. OK. Is there some kinda protagonist we should be meetin' up with here? <@Dreol> [Behind door #1, is an office room. It's a relatively standard Doctor's Office. It has a chair/bed thing for patients, and a couple of other chairs to sit on, as well as several doctor's tools. Nothing in this room seems covered in blood but it is also very dark.] I...I would think a STARS member would be saying something nonsensical at us by now. * Cassiopeia pulls out a flashlight. "Someone start checkin' the next room." *searches the room* * Henry looks around. "What did you say healing items in this game were again?" Herbs. * Henry starts going through the drawers, looking for plant things. Wait <@Dreol> [And speaking of herbs! You find a couple of them on the desk in the doctor's office! One green herb and one red herb.] I'd rather we stick together. we can't split up! That's how they get you. Micah's right. Hey, I found a red one and a green one! And if there's a strangler in the next office, you might not be able to yell for help, either. Sweet! That too. * Katsuo just keeps track of everyone to make sure nobody runs off. Splitting up is still bad. Hold onto them. And I was suggestin' three and three, but point taken. * Cassiopeia heads over to the next room! * Henry pockets the healing goodies. Better to stick together and take forever than to lose a team and try to get 'em back. * Micah will follow the group, gun still out and ready. * Lex moves to stand next to Cass as she opens the next door, crossbow at the ready. * Kyler follows. <@Dreol> [The next room is about as plain as the previous one. It contains 1 green herb and no reds.] <@Dreol> [All the offices are pretty much the same. Aside from the 2 green and 1 red herb you found already, you find 3 more greens, 2 reds, and 1 blue.] What do each of these even mean, anyway? * Henry ... gets beaten by Kyler to the questino. Yeah. Green heals. Red enhances green. Blue usually cures poison, I think. So you take green and red and you get... better green? So they get status effects too? I don't know I just popped the damn things when I had to. That's about right. *checks out around the corner near the elevator.* <@Dreol> [Around the corner you see that the hall continues on. At the end of the hall is a door marked "Stairs"] ... right. Fuse box in the basement? * Micah groans. "Okay, same file, down we go?" Or generator or zombie hamsters on wheels or whatever. * Cassiopeia heads for the stairs. * Henry sticks with Katsuo on the to and down. Probably all of the above. Sounds good. Let's do it. * Lex opens the door and heads down, watching for zombies and air vents and funny noises and... * Micah follows Lex, still as jumpy though. * Kyler follows Micah in turn, lighting up what needs to be lit! * Kyler figures, in that case, it's straight ahead first, then point the light up to check the ceiling, then elsewhere, including down. <@Dreol> [The staircase is pitch black. Once Kyler gets around the corner you can see. But only by his flashlight. It leads into the basement where you find another door.] <@Dreol> [You hear that rattling noise from above you again, as well.] * Micah frowns. "If this is locked by some puzzle, I vote punch it till it opens." Well, you're the right one for that. * Lex tries the door first, however. It's true, you do have the power fists... * Henry makes sure he's higher on the stairs than Katsuo. * Katsuo makes sure he's ready to shoot whatever is vibrating. <@Dreol> [There doesn't appear to be anything above you.] ... right then. Through the door. *adds her flashlight to the mix* * Kyler nods. "Here we go." * Micah takes a deep breath getting ready. <@Dreol> [As soon as you push on the door, you are met with some strong resistance. There appears to be something heavy on the other side of the door, but with some effort it can be pushed open.] * Lex puts her shoulder to the door and shoves, hoping not to find anything too gruesome on the other side. * Kyler shines his light through the crack as he helps Lex push. * Micah frowns keeping his gun trained ready to shoot. * Cassiopeia steps back a bit. * Henry gets ready to debuff whatever's in there. <@Dreol> [With some effort the door is forced open. On the ground, leaning against the door, you see somebody who is dressed in what appears to be a very well armored police uniform. On his shoulder is a badge that says S.T.A.R.S. He is quite dead.] S.T.A.R.S.? That look like some... police force? Poor guy. That's what y'all mentioned before, right? * Kyler plays his flashlight around the rest of the inside. Check for equipment? Weapon, ammo, armor? * Lex takes a closer look at the body to see if there might be something besides a licker in here. Also, equipment. Yeah they are... they are umm... well plot stupid. Oh. They're redshirts. What? No, I think most redshirts die on screen. What're redshirts? <@Dreol> [On him you find a badge that says "S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team. Trevor Wood." What killed him is pretty clear once you turn him over. It seems his stomach has been torn out.] * Henry looks away. "Urgh. Uh... whatever did that isn't still in here, is it?" Bad way to go. * Kyler makes another face. * Lex swallows a bit. "I hope not." She continues looking for anything useful on his body, however. * Micah stares at Lex. "SHIT, you go to a fucking gaming convention and don't know that? I ain't your fucking pansy ass nerd but I damn well know what a redshirt is because they won't stop gabbling about it." Red shirt usually alive before beginning of game. Uh, can we kinda worry more about the zombies than Star Treck? * Kyler coughs lightly. "Star Trek reference, Lex. Nameless extras, first to die." * Lex glances up at Micah briefly, looking irritated. "I've never been that sociable." I go to play, not chat. And the games I play don't usually have extras. Anything on him? *pauses* Aside from his insides, I mean. You want to search that mess? Some messed-up armor. Still looking for anything else. *looks at Micah. You have any other way to get reloads for that gun of yours? * Micah just nods at Lex trying to stay quiet. S'just guts. Not like they're gonna come to life and try to strangle you or tickle you or bad touch you... We hope. <@Dreol> [On good ol' Trevor, once you roll him over is a shotgun! Also in his pocket is a pair of pliers which have recently constructed a new fuse for a fuse box somewhere. The fuse is also in his hand.] You haven't played many horror games, have you? * Cassiopeia grabs the fuse. * Lex sticks the pliers in her pocket, and picks up the shotgun. "Anyone want this?" Is there any ammo for it? I...give it to some one that needs range. * Lex checks for ammo! * Micah sounds almost pained, but he means it. <@Dreol> [The shotgun has one shell left.] How you die with a shotgun? Shotgun perfect for zombies! Who knows. Not our problem right now. Here, Henry. Cass can shoot ice cubes at them if she needs to, and I think everyone else has *something* ranged. Eh, I'll take it if nobody else can use it. Uh, okay? I don't know how to use it. It'll make a good one-handed bludgeoning weapon if nothing else. * Lex looks between Kyler and Henry, waiting for them to work it out. I've got the downstab and my debuffs for ranged. * Micah watches them, clearly having second thoughts now. Okay, let's keep moving. *raises flashlight back up; starts moving* * Kyler shrugs. "Don't much matter to me, I just don't want it to go to waste." Right. *hands the gun to Kyler, since he seems more comfortable. * Lex gets moving. * Kyler takes it for now. "If anyone wants to use it later on, just lemme know." He stashes it somehow and moves along. * Micah moves with the group, he's not going to be the one separated. * Henry doesn't want to get left behind, so he goes with. "Where do we plug that thing in anyway?" Fusebox'll be at the end of a hallway. Behind a door. Locked with three emblems and a sliding block puzzle. <@Dreol> [The basement is extremely dark. By the light of Kyler's flashlight you can see a trail of blood leading from Trevor into a large room where several shelves are around the room and it is stocked with hospital supplies. On the far end of the room is a fuse box which, as expected, is missing a fuse.] ... right some one go for the fuse the rest of us take point. I guess he solved it already. Or not. Search the shelves, guard the door, watch the ceiling, do a polka! *heads for the fuse box* * Lex takes the door. * Henry checks that his sword is drawn and that he's not standing so close to anybody that swinging it'll stab them too. Then he looks up for vents and such. <@Dreol> [The shelves are impossible to search without a flashlight. The room is pitch black.] * Lex is listening as carefully as she can out in the hallway, since lights are elsewhere. * Henry flips open his DS and powers it on, one handed, it's not much light, but it's better than nothing. * Kyler flashlightifies. * Micah frowns watching a bit. If any of you see anything I might be able to make a torch out of, grab it. Should've thought of that earlier. <@Dreol> [The shelves are littered with hospital supplies. Scalpels, some drugs of various sorts, scrubs, etc. From what you can see.] * Cassiopeia continues fiddling with the fuse box. * Micah waits for the boss fight that's clearly coming. <@Dreol> [Cass clicks the fuse into place and flips a switch and the lights start to flicker on around the room!] Is there a puzzle to put the fuse - ah! * Kyler blinks and turns off his flashlight once the ambient light is sufficient. It is fusebox. Should be simple. <@Dreol> [At that point the rattling above you returns and gets louder!] * Micah aims his gun for it quickly. * Cassiopeia puts away her flashlight as well. "Thank you, thank you..." *looks up* "And at a dramatically appropriate moment, here comes the ambush!" * Henry snaps his DS closed and pockets it. * Lex starts trying to listen out and look up at the same time. <@Dreol> [The ventilation grate above you falls to the ground with a clang! and down drops the licker that was described earlier! It lets out a loud screech and whips its tongue out.] <@Dreol> [End!]
