<@Ardweden> [Last time, on Power Sliders! The lot of you got sucked into what seems to be The Legend of Zelda, further solidified by running into some kid in green who claims to be Link who also just so happens to be looking for "the princess", whoever that is (hint: probably Zelda).] <@Ardweden> [After much deliberation and discussion with Link and his surprisingly talkative lute, the lot of you determined that the next dungeon he needs to hit lies across the sea. You hit up a port town, and the group split in half: one to check out ships, the other to slack off and discuss mutiny- errr, go shopping.] <@Ardweden> [That's where you are now! Micah checked out bombs that go boom but hasn't bought any, and Henry's spent seven of Cass' not-so-hard-earned rupees buying a butterfly net. The three of you are standing in the general store. Go!] You don't happen to have any bombs in here? * Micah looks at the shop keeper unsure. * Lex tries to hint hint quietly, looking at Henry. "Wasn't there something else we wanted to ask?" <@Ardweden> [She shakes her head. "I'm sorry dear, but we don't deal in explosives."] Huh? Oh yeah! Hey, do you anything about what happened to Princess Zelda? <@Ardweden> ["The Princess? No more than anyone else, I'm afraid."] * Micah sighs and looks at the store stuff again, as they talk. * Henry nods. "Ah, 'cause I think I saw Link a little while ago." <@Ardweden> [She blinks. "Who?"] The Hero Of Legend, Henry. Link? The kid with the Triforce of Courage? Hero of Legend? * Micah turns back to stuff muttering under his breath. "Damn it am I the ONLY fucking person that listens to the damn talkies? You'd think for the damn hard on to them they would LISTEN to them but noooo..." <@Ardweden> ["Er... the Hero of Legend saved Hyrule centuries ago. I don't know who this Link person is. Are you okay?"] Uh... maybe. I thought he was supposed to get reincarnated. * Micah suddenly steps in front of Henry, shoving him back a little bit. "My friend reads too many fairy tales. Beside the jars, is there anything else you'd suggest for a trip around the country side?" * Lex shoots Micah a Look, but doesn't interfere. <@Ardweden> [She rubs at the back of her head. "I suppose... I'm sorry, I don't know much about legends and myths. Just enough to get by." She blinks at the sudden change in conversation. "Ah... well, a butterfly net, though your friend already bought one. Catching butterflies is a favorite pastime among children here, maybe second to fishing."] <@Ardweden> ["I'd make sure to dress for the weather, too. It can get unpredictable, sometimes."] Do you have some warm clothes or perhaps a fishing pole? <@Ardweden> ["No clothes; the clothing shop is right down the block, though. How far out are you going?" She looks a little worried. "I hope you're not going to venture *too* far out; there are monsters which are quite dangerous. Stick to the roads, okay?"] We're heading out to sea. To an island...what was it called, Henry? I assure you I won't......... * Micah takes that look Lex shot him, puts an exploding tip on it, and shoots it back at her with full force now. <@Ardweden> ["As for poles and bait, you can find some in the third aisle to your left." She points. "One rupee for a small tin of bait, and five rupees for a fishing pole."] * Micah grimaces at that as he's adding this all up in his head. Bombs are quickly disappearing in his mind, but he's some how sure that the bait and fishing poles will appear. "Thank. You." He forces the words out a bit strained. It's uh... actually I didn't see a name on the map. * Henry scratches at his face in embarrassment. It's not too far away. Just can get chilly out. <@Ardweden> [The woman shrugs. "I don't know of any islands covered in ice, myself. I'm afraid I can't help you."] <@Ardweden> ["You should probably talk to the sailors; they might know something."] <@Ardweden> ["And dress warmly."] * Lex says in her best polite voice, "Thank you." * Henry nods. "Right." * Lex looks between the other two. "So should we walk down to the clothing store and find out how much a coat costs?" * Micah sighs. "Yeah we should." * Henry nods. * Lex puts her hands in her pockets, nods to the shopwoman, and heads for the door. * Henry leaves with his butterfly net. * Micah follows them waiting till they are outside. "God, don't you guys listen? What are you specialties? The guy out and out says he and others don't know who he is. You're making people think you're nuts. It's like me saying Hercules is down here and helping us out." Oh, whups. * Lex stops, pauses, and looks at Micah. "My specialty is RTSs. I don't know what the fuck is going on, and - I don't much like it, but I am trying. So lay the fuck off, will you?" I'm the fucking stupid FPSer, remember? And I got that shit. I'm... pretty good at Pokemon. <@Ardweden> [The bomb juggling guy keeps juggling bombs with a mad grin on his face. He's already made his pitch! Well, not the exploding one. The other one.] * Lex pauses again and visibly closes down. "I figured I would let someone who knew something about this game take the lead. But never mind. Let's go to the clothing store." * Micah grabs Lex's shoulder. "Yo, hold up, it's shit talk, you let it roll off your back. Okay? Don't let it get to you. I don't know what the fuck is going on. I know less then you. I just caught it. Okay? Look, I told you that we have to be careful who knows what and you could have blown me off, but your gut went with it. You got a good instinct. Don't turn it off. We need all the players." * Micah is looking serious after that giant speech and long period of not cursing. * Henry blinks at Micah's abrupt change in demeanor. * Lex looks down at Micah's hand on her shoulder, then back up at his face. "Well, you could try being polite about catching it. Among other things." Now, can we get on with it? * Micah glances at Henry. "Dude, there's shit talk, and there's sucking the fun out. The girl wasn't doing well, I'd be a fucktard to let it continue." * Micah let's Lex go and shrugs. "Sure." * Henry gives Micah his grown-ups are weird look and then shrugs. I highly doubt Henry being confused about heroes in front of a shopkeeper is going to cause us problems. But you have a point. Intel, intel, intel...well, let's go look at clothes. Yeah, lead on, you're the expert here I bet. * Lex almost laughs. "At clothes? In a video game I've never played?" I'm sure as hell not an expert on clothes. The biggest thing I know about fashion is that I'd break Kate Moss if I fucked her. I bet you'll be just as much an expert as me. Especially since what it takes to keep warm isn't that complicated. * Henry mumbles. "Blue's usually good for water and cold." * Micah shrugs. "Maybe color code or something? I don't know. We got one person already completely color coded." Well, I guess we'll all be coordinated, if we can afford it. <@Ardweden> [You go to the clothing store! Upon entering, you see plenty of clothing, most designed for a spring day (as that seems to be the season you appeared in). The proprietor of the shop is a thin man with a moustache and a comb-over, who moves over to the door you enter in. "Hello! Welcome to my shop! I've never seen you before - you must be from out of town."] Yes, traveling. And going farther. Do you have anything for the cold? <@Ardweden> [He blinks. "Cold? Yes, of course, for the winter months. I've been having a sale on the overstock because of the change in weather."] What do you have? <@Ardweden> [He rubs at his moustache. "Well, the sale just ended... I figured I wasn't going to sell any more, but if you're interested, I can check my stock and give you the discounted price. Give me a moment, please."] * Micah nods, letting Lex take the lead. It was obvious he was keeping himself out of it right now. <@Ardweden> [And with that, he heads off to the back room to rummage around boxes or wherever it is clothing stores keep their things.] * Lex is not looking at Micah. Or Henry. Or anything, actually, except some point in midair. Her hands are shoved farther in her hoodie pockets. * Micah just waits, quietly. * Henry whispers to Micah. "Should I ask about the weather change? I mean that's something nobody mentioned before." Yeah go ahead, sorry dude, didn't mean to scare the shit out of you. Go for it. <@Ardweden> [At this point, the man returns, a large box in his arms. "Nrg... sorry, can someone help me with this? I have another..."] * Lex moves to help him get the box to the counter. Sure. * Micah goes to help him. <@Ardweden> [He foists the box onto Lex and Micah, and it's more bulky than heavy. Between the two of them, they can probably maneuver it considerably better than just the store owner. "Thanks. Just set it down wherever is clear." He goes back to get the other box.] * Henry follows him in case he needs more help with the second box. * Micah will set it down as soon as he can. <@Ardweden> [With Henry helping (because he does need help!), they manage to get the second box out of storage! The store owner wipes his brow. "Thanks, you lot certainly are helpful. Let's see what we've got here..." He starts pulling the boxes open, and inside are a small array of heavy coats and cloaks, boots, trousers, and shirts, as well as a few sets of hats and gloves.] * Henry pokes at the pile of clothes. "So, what do you think about the weather?" <@Ardweden> ["Oh, we've been having some *beautiful* weather lately. I really wish I could go out and enjoy it instead of minding my shop." He smiles. "Alas, day jobs."] <@Ardweden> [Henry pokes at a cloak, and he finds the material quite heavy and stiff.] Is it normally worse around here? * Micah starts digging through the clothes seeing if there's any he'd like * Lex also starts looking through clothing, a little dubiously. Possibly for blue things, if there are any to be had. <@Ardweden> ["Not at this time of year, but the storms can get pretty bad in the winter. Horrible months for sailing. I think we're all glad those are over, at least for a little while."] <@Ardweden> [There's blue clothes! But maybe not as much as Lex would like. While there's quite a bit of variety in sizes and styles, there's not so much that she can make an entirely color coordinated outfit and still have it fit her.] * Henry nods. "That's good to hear." <@Ardweden> [She finds that the cloaks are very stiff and heavy, and the coats also a bit stiff and heavy. The other clothes feel more in line with what she's used to, as far as cotton and wool goes, though coarser. The boots at the bottom of the boxes are leather, but nothing else is.] <@Ardweden> [It all seems quite warm, especially the coats, cloaks, hats, and gloves. And probably boots, if one were to go tromping around in the snow.] So how much is all this stuff? <@Ardweden> [He grins. "Are you going to buy all of it, or just some of it?"] * Lex 's mouth twists wryly. "Just some of it." <@Ardweden> ["Oh, too bad," he says, chuckling to himself. "Well, let's see. I do want to get rid of my overstock, so... how about two rupees for any item in there. Pairs of boots, of course; nobody wants to only buy one boot. If you find a hat and gloves you like, I'll even give them to you as a two rupee set."] * Micah does quick adding up, frowns a bit, giving Lex a meaningful look. * Henry does his own addition, but speaks out loud. "Gonna need to grind more money." * Lex also does the math, and glances at the others. "Well, given where we're heading, we should probably get coats for people...will we need to get other stuff, too?" Probably? Most likely. <@Ardweden> ["Where are you heading? If you're going over the sea to somewhere cold, you may want to get cloaks; they're more water resistant and you can shed them quickly in the case of being tossed overboard." Pause. "Though then you're probably in too much trouble to handle swimming anyway, in weather like that."] Hm, we are going to have to get more money, then. Should we buy stuff for general adventuring first, like the bombs, and then go back to the others? ... Bombs, coats for all of us and make Link buy his own? All right. Coats or cloaks? Hrm.. Not sure, but hey shop keep guy dude owner... know of any one that might know of artifacts? ...cloaks. Cass would probably have a problem getting a coat over her jacket. And the water-shedding thing might be useful. Yeah. Will go with you. <@Ardweden> [He considers Henry's question, then shakes his head. "Nobody around here. We're just a small town. Your best bet would be Hyrule City, near the castle."] * Henry nods at Lex and Micah. "Are there six cloaks in here?" <@Ardweden> [After some searching and help from the store owner, you do find six cloaks! They're of various colors and sizes. They won't be PERFECT for the group, but they should service well enough, and they all seem very warm. If heavy.] That will work... * Micah sounds very sad right now. ...guys...is there a place we can stash these for a little while? 'Cause there doesn't seem to be any call for carrying them around before we need to. Not that I know of? * Henry looks at the shop keeper. "Could you keep seven of these out when you put everything else away? We'll come back for them after we're done shopping." <@Ardweden> [He nods. "Of course. I can't see why anyone else would want them." Pause. "Are you interested in anything else, or should I pack it back away?"] I think that's everything for now. * Micah looks like he's going to say something but shuts his mouth. <@Ardweden> [He nods and goes about packing everything but the cloaks away. Ah, packing things up like that is so sad.] So. Bombs, before Micah starts to pine? Do we have enough left? I mean there's probably other things more important. Well, if Link was buying his own, yes, we do. And assuming we're heading into a dungeon, bombs could actually be pretty useful. I assume. Well, if Link buys his own cloak, we have enough to buy all of ours and a set of bombs. And have one rupee left over! er.. that's good? * Lex says drily, "A penny saved is a penny earned. Or a rupee." Ha, fine. Maybe later we can work our way up to jars. It means we don't have to go grind more money unless we find something else we need to buy. So bombs, then the others, then cloaks? I think so. * Micah smirks. "Right, may I have the money?" Sure. * Henry gives Micah the 18 rupees. * Micah pays this shopkeeper for the cloaks first and then runs off to get his explosions. <@Ardweden> [The shopkeeper starts to say thank you, but Micah ran off, so he turns to the other two. "Thank you," he says. "Your friend's in quite a hurry."] * Lex is still dry. "He's very excited." * Henry nods. We'd best follow him. Thank you. <@Ardweden> [Meanwhile, Micah runs into the street and presumably to the crazy-looking bomb guy! He smiles his semi-toothless smile upon seeing him. "Aha! I see you have returned, sir! Care to buy some bombs?"] * Micah nods "Yep, five rupees." The word sounds odd and forced when he says it. "For them and the bag, right?" * Henry waves to the shopkeeper and steps out. <@Ardweden> ["Actually, it was six for the bombs and the bag! But who's counting, right?" he says with a wink, as one who understands how important it is to blow stuff up. He tosses Micah a bag, followed quickly by five bombs and what looks like a lighter. Catch! Fast!] * Lex walks out as well, in time to catch the tossing, and winces just a little. * Micah will scramble to catch them, at least the salesman understands him. Of course if the salesman truly understood he'd be leaving town right about now, but hey who's counting? <@Ardweden> [One two three four FIVE BOMBS IN A BAG! And a lighter. The man keeps grinning and looks at Micah expectantly.] * Micah twitches, oh he twitches so hard. "I must wait till I find the right time to set one off." He nods to the man. "I'll make sure when I do you'll see the explosion." <@Ardweden> ["Excellent!" He grabs a bomb and starts tossing it from one hand to the other. "But there is the small matter of payment, sir!"] * Micah looks at him. "OH!" He sheepishly hands over the money, he doesn't have to do that in his much superior genre. <@Ardweden> [The man deftly takes the money and pockets it in between bomb tosses. "Thank you sir! Have an excellent day!"] * Lex strolls up to Micah and glances to the bag. "Glad to see you're not exploded. Shall we return to the others?" Er, we don't have that penny Well if we need more we can just mow grass or break pots. True. <@Ardweden> [And so, you go off to find the others.] <@Ardweden> [Session End!]
