<@Dreol> [Power Sliders Session 6] <@Dreol> [Last time on Power Sliders! You all entered some Ice Temple in the Legend of Zelda world. Upon entering you had to solve some strange light puzzle which allowed you to access a room in which there were... Wizzrobes! How annoying! So you all fought valiantly against your wizzy-robey foes and were rewarded with a map which rose from a platform in the center! You are now in a room with two open doors. The one that you came in and the one on the wall to its right.] <@Dreol> [Begin] So, we go down the only path, right? * Henry nods. And this is supposed to be hard? Depends on what gets in our way. There's probably more puzzles and baddies ahead. I've seen more choices on beginner maps. Let's go then. * Katsuo nods and goes forward! Or at least tries to persuade Link to do so. "Onward hero!" <@Dreol> [Link heads into the next room. In the center of the next room is a burning torch, which has been ignited from a prism up above similar to the one in the first room. The light from the torch is concentrated by a semi-cicular panel in front of it and is being directed at a door straight in front of you. The door, however, remains shut and locked.] <@Dreol> [At the left corner on the open door side there is a statue of a knight, a similar statue appears in the opposite corner. The last two corners contain raised tiles.] * Micah walks over to yank the torch out. <@Dreol> [The torch is frozen in place and will not budge.] * Henry looks around. "Two people stand on the..., wait that can't be right There's only supposed to be one person so that can't be the solution." <@Dreol> [Now that you look at it, actually, it's more of a brazier than a torch. It seems to be part of the temple structure, itself.] * Lex walks over to look at the plates. "So which one should one of us stand on first?" * Micah frowns looking it over and then back at the statues, he shrugs and just runs over for the raised tile closest to him. * Henry wanders over to the statue on the left side of the room and tugs on it experimentally. What happens if we don't do it right the first time? It doesn't trigger traps or anything, does it? <@Dreol> [After a bit of effort the statue moves. Once it has been pulled far enough a click can be heard and a third raised tile is revealed below the statue.] <@Dreol> [Once Micah steps onto the raised tile a click is heard.] Seems easy enough. Oh, uhhh. Huh. * Lex raises her eyebrows at the statue, and walks over to help Henry with the second statue. She looks back at Micah. "Only if there's no particular order we have to press those things in. Which isn't guaranteed." * Henry nods. "It might be that we have to push the statues across the room to make the door on that side open." * Katsuo hmmms. Hey if there's an order there should be some sign of it. Maybe. Will they go all the way across the room? *eyes statue, trying to figure out if there's a track in the floor or something. Dunno. * Henry pulls some more. <@Dreol> [The statue seems to be willing to move wherever Henry pulls it.] * Henry pulls it across the room until he gets near the opposite corner and then pushes it onto the floor switch on that side. <@Dreol> [Another click is heard.] * Lex starts pulling on the second statue. "Are we putting this one across the room, too?" Yeah. * Lex keeps pulling until the statue is where Henry says. Don't over think this guys. If it looks more complicated we can sit down and think, but right now, let's not kill ourselves with what ifs. <@Dreol> [As soon as Lex pulls the statue off its tile, a click is heard and a raised tile appears where the statue once was. Once she drags it to the opposite corner another click is heard. The door remains shut.] I guess that wasn't it. Hm. It might be that we need to step on one of the ones the knights were on. Nah. It's something to do with the light. Does the lense turn? I don't know, let's find out. * Katsuo walks over to the lense and applies some pressure, to see if it'll move. <@Dreol> [It will not move. It seems stationary.] * Henry rubs his head. "Put a statue in the beam and see if it comes to life? * Lex experimentally puts her hand in the light beam. <@Dreol> [The light beam stops at Lex's hand.] * Lex pulls her hand out and looks at it in slight concern on hearing that. Though who knows how the light could make her hand more alive... <@Dreol> [Her hand seems the same as before.] Yo girls, you got a mirror? I guess interrupting the light isn't the way it's done...ha, no. Well, theoretically it's supposed to be solved by just Link and his equipment, which I don't think includes a mirror... Hmm. * Kyler looks up at the prism. Hookshot? Yeah, maybe. * Katsuo nods. * Micah shrugs and starts to look around seeing if anything else clicks and then groans. "Move all the statues off. I was on one of the things, we haven't tried it with nothing down." Oh, right! * Kyler looks over at Link. * Henry pulls the statue he was moving off the switch. <@Dreol> [Link appears to be looking at the Prism and also at all of you guys trying to do stuff. He looks up at Kyler. "Want me to do something?"] * Micah goes to yank the other one off. You have your hookshot, right? <@Dreol> [Link nods and digs into his bag retrieving the hook shot and holding it out. "Yep!"] <@Dreol> [Both statues move off the tiles and there are two clicks. Nothing happens.] Think you can grab that there prism with it and bring it down, maybe? Well that doesn't work. Oh well. * Kyler looks over at Micah. "That's what you had in mind, right?" Yeah, that was it. <@Dreol> [Link shrugs and points the hookshot at the prism. He squints one eye and aims, and then fires! The hook shot sails through the air and hits the prism dead on. It then rebounds back and snaps back into the hookshot with no effect. Link shrugs.] Dang. Could he get up beside it using the hookshot and mess with it by hand? Guess we try standing on all four of them. After that I'm gonna have to come up with a new idea. <@Dreol> [Link shrugs at Henry and goes to stand on one of the tiles. "All right!"] * Lex gives a small shrug and does the same. * Henry steps onto the one his statue was on. * Katsuo walks over and stands on one of the plates. * Micah goes to stand on them himself. "Shouldn't we have link be doing this? It might be his weight?" <@Dreol> [Click, click click as the three stand on them. Then once Katsuo stands on the fourth plate there is a click and the door slides open. The light shines through the door and into the distance.] Well, if it requires more than one person, it'd use the statues, so I don't think the weight would make a huge diff--there we go. How the heck would Link have done that on his own with only two statues? Yeah. Sometimes a bomb on the switch works. I bet it's only two plates that matter, it jsut has to be the right two. Oh, the bombs work? OK then. Well we got one of them. * Micah steps off. * Henry also steps off and waits to see if the door closes again. <@Dreol> [As soon as Henry steps off the door closes and the light is once again stopped.] I guess we put a statue on that one. * Micah goes to one of the statues and drags it over to Henry's panel. * Henry nods and pushes the statue into place. <@Dreol> [Once the statue is placed on Henry's plate the door slides open.] Katsuo's Panel too, if I need to spell it out. * Lex steps off her tile once the statue's in place to see if the door closes again. <@Dreol> [It does.] All right then. *pulls over another statue. <@Dreol> [Once the statue covers Lex's panel the door once again opens.] * Lex looks around at the people still on tiles. "Has that done it, or do we need to figure something else out?" Should be it. * Kyler heads over to the door and peeks through it, making sure to pay attention to the people on the tiles in case it closes again for any reason. * Micah shoots Lex a look. * Lex looks back at Micah blankly for a moment, then says, "So is the Hero taking point again?" <@Dreol> [Link moves off his tile. As soon as he does the door closes.] I'm going to have to use my bombs. * Micah sounds very sad. * Katsuo thinks. <@Dreol> [Also when Kyler looked through the door he saw a long icy hallway and, what appeared to be another Brazier type thing at the end.] Any big object can place on pedestal? Think so. I guess we could use the chest the map was in, if it's not fused in place. I'll see. * Micah heads into the other room to see if he can lift or even budge the chest. <@Dreol> [The chest will actually lift fairly easily as soon as Micah tries to lift it.] * Micah frowns and carries it in. "It might be too light." He drops it on one of the panels. <@Dreol> [As he drops it on the tile that Link left the door once again slides open.] That's... very light. <@Dreol> [It probably weighs about 30 lbs.] Hey, it works. Yeah, guess so...wait isn't this cheating? * Micah looks at Katsuo specifically. If that's all it takes, we might be able to run back outside and get some rocks. * Katsuo gets off his switch. As long as the door opens, I don't see how it's cheating. Yeah, we haven't used anything not from the setting to do it yet, either. Just need to find one more moveable object. I thought all these stupid rooms were supposed to be self-contained That was in the early ones. Hey, anyone want to come with me to get some rocks? Sure, why not? * Kyler takes his flashlight out of his backpack and holds it up. "Are y'all gonna need this?" Don't think so. The rooms were lit, and it's daylight outside. Hmmm. OK, cool. * Kyler puts it away again. * Micah shrugs and follows Lex. <@Dreol> [There are a few rocks of various sizes and weights outside.] What size do you think we need? I don't know seems like a bag of cat litter to a fat geek works * Henry waits around inside. * Lex blinks a moment, then presses her lips together and picks up a likely- looking rock. * Micah will grab a second just in case. * Lex heads back inside. * Micah is being quiet and helpful as he follows, at least for now. Bigger is better. 15 kilos? <@Dreol> [Lex carries the rock back inside. It's quite heavy.] I don't really know how much a kilo is to carry, but hopefully this works. * Katsuo assists in the movement of rocks to switches. * Lex dumps the rock on the last tile. Oof. <@Dreol> [The door slides open.] Bombs saved. Let's go. Yup. Careful, even more ice up ahead. * Henry tries not to slip. * Micah shrugs and moves that way. <@Dreol> [The next room is a long icy corridor. At the back of it is a brazier that becomes lit as soon as the light coming from the one in the previous room hits it. As soon as it is lit it also gives off light. To the right of the brazier is another crystal panel which focuses the light into the room to the right of the corridor.] Huh... So yay light and ice. * Katsuo carefully walks ahead, trying to avoid slipperiness. * Lex also walks carefully down the hall. * Kyler looks into said room. Good combination! Make excellent game. We're playing it. Hmmm. That problematic. That's one way to put it... <@Dreol> [The room at the end of the hall is a large room. You are on the second floor which appears to be a sort of balcony. In front of you is an angled mirror on a sort of sliding track that goes around the corner. To your right a mirror is suspended from the ceiling pointing down on an angle towards an angled mirror on the ground.] <@Dreol> [A huge crystal is in the center of the room and takes up both floors. Several mirrors are around on the ground floor. Some are slidable and some aren't. There is a ladder that will lead down to the ground floor.] Okay this is more like it. Looks like we need people on both floors. *heads for the ladder. * Henry looks to see where the light from the last room is shining in this one. <@Dreol> [The light is shining directly at the mirror on the second floor, which is currently reflecting it at the south wall.] * Lex looks up from the bottom floor. "Can you change the angle of the one on the balcony along with the position?" <@Dreol> [The mirror can only be moved along its track, it cannot be tilted.] * Henry pulls the balcony mirror as far west as it will go. * Micah is just watching confused by this all * Lex looks at the beam of light and at the mirrors on the bottom floor, trying to figure out which one she can get into the light beam for some useful effect. No, mirror won't tilt, only move. We could just break them all and then position the shards. No guarantee we'd get shards big enough. Not to mention I don't feel like grabbing broken glass. <@Dreol> [Henry moves the mirror all the way west, at which point the light reflects onto the mirror on the ceiling, and then down to the mirror below that which that reflects the light against the west wall.] * Henry leans over the balcony. "Hey Micah, could uh, could you move that mirror so it's in the light?" * Micah shrugs. "Sure." He'll stand up and look around. "WHICH mirror?" He is obviously trying VERY hard not to swear. * Henry points the one on the big track that's a bit north of where the light's going right now. * Micah will shrug and go move it. <@Dreol> [The light now reflects straight down to the south-west mirror which reflects north-east on an angle and hits the next closest mirror, which then reflects the light onto the south wall.] * Lex gauges the new angle and walks over to move the southern mirror. And now you've gotta, yeah that one. <@Dreol> [Once the last mirror is moved into place the beam of light hits the crystal in the center.] <@Dreol> [The ice begins to melt from the crystal starting at the point of contact with the light and spreading out. As the crystal melts further a female figure can be seen emerging from inside the crystal. Once the crystal is completely melted away, the figure is revealed to be a faerie.] Great Faerie? Why did I get a feeling of dread and the instinct to not look this thing in the face? <@Dreol> [She is a larger faerie than the Zelda experts are probably used to. About human size. And she is hovering over a spring that has just become unfrozen. In fact, the entirety of the temple is becoming unfrozen and all around you can be seen roots and moss covered rocks dripping with water until there is no ice left in the temple.] * Henry boggles around. "Uh, wow..." <@Dreol> [The south wall also reveals a doorway leading down a ramp. The faerie stretches and looks towards you all. "Thank you for rescuing me! I have been frozen for ever so long. Welcome to the Temple of Life."] * Lex looks around in amazement before turning back to the fairy. * Kyler blinks. "That's...h-uh. Hello, miss." <@Dreol> [Link smiles and waves. "Thank you, miss! I am here to retrieve the final crystal! Do you know where it is?"] <@Dreol> [The faerie shakes her head. "No, I am afraid I do not. But there are others of my kind who may assist you below."] * Lex is still rather wide-eyed. "Uh, thank you." * Henry takes the bait. "Below?" * Kyler eyes her, but is too polite to say anything yet. <@Dreol> [The Faerie points to the tunnel that has opened up to the south.] Oh. <@Dreol> [The faerie continues on. "As a reward for freeing me and saving this temple the faeries below will grant you each special powers."] This normal? Somewhat. Close enough that should not be odd. Items are most common, but magic and special techniques are rewards too. Sometimes. * Micah shrugs and just looks at every one like they are nuts but will start heading that way. * Henry goes down the hole. * Katsuo heads down the direction the faerie pointed! * Kyler pauses and looks at the fairy and looks back to the tunnel, but ultimately follows everyone, keeping an eye out behind him until the fairy is out of sight. <@Dreol> [Session End]
