[Thursday, September 2, 2004.] [Ivy is at home! Woo hoo! It's also very late. She's all cleaned up and doing... whatever it is Ivy does in her free time. Her parents are watching television in the family room.] [Maybe she'll study for the quiz tomorrow.] [... Yeah, right.] [Session Start.] * Ivy 's... not studying. She is drawing though! Vampires, even. Actually, she's drawing a rather grotesque scene of the night's events. Fun! [Oh, is that Charlotte getting a spike through the eye?] (HA.) (Oh, remind me. The weather is really really hot, right?) (It's pretty hot, but not horrendously so. Just rained, after all.) (*Nod* Okay.) * Ivy is lightly humming as she draws. Oooh, look, vamp dust over here... [It's a bunch of black dots!] [Right about now, there's a light knocking. Knocking on Ivy's chamber door.] (... If a raven kills her, I quit.) (It's okay. She'd be dead!) (Bwah!) * Ivy glances up to the door and then picks herself up from the ground so she can answer it! She's even wearing all her clothes! Go rain! [On the other side is Ivy's mom. She smiles a little.] * Ivy gives her mom and small smile back. She doesn't move out of the way of the door to let her in though. Girl really needs to work on her manners. ["Can I come in?" Jerine asks.] * Ivy turns around to glance at her open drawing pad and then back to her mom. She moves out of the way so that she's right in front of the pad. [Jerine walks in and closes the door behind herself. She moves around her daughter to sit on the edge of the bed, then looks towards the pad curiously. Maybe the pencil gave it away.] * Ivy moves so that she's in front of the pad to her mom's new POV. She gives her a nervous smile. [She looks up to her daughter's face. "What are you drawing?"] * Ivy 's eyes drift down toward the carpet near her pad once more and then pauses a beat. After the beat passes, she kneels down and grabs the pad, turns the page forward a couple, and then, with pad still in her hand, shows her mom an amateur sketch of her room. [Her mother looks at it. "It's not bad," she says deadpan.] * Ivy beams at the compliment, completely missing the deadpan... or ignoring it. She then drops the bad back down at her feet... away from her mom's grasp. [Jerine frowns a little, but it doesn't last long. "How are you doing?"] * Ivy shrugs indifferently. ["Come on, sit here." Jerine pats the spot next to her.] * Ivy glances down to that pad yet again, but then abandons it to go sit where her mom pats. [She reaches around to hug Ivy around the shoulders. "I know you're a brave girl," Jerine tells her daughter. "And you don't want to trouble us."] ["But I need to know what happened tonight."] * Ivy looks over to her mom, a bit of panic in her eyes. She points over to a picture of Jeremy. [She looks at the picture, then back at Ivy. "He got hurt."] * Ivy pauses a moment, but then finally nods. ["How, Ivy?"] * Ivy looks away for a moment, but then points... more pointedly at the picture of Jeremy. [She knits her brow. "He hurt himself?" She shakes her head and stands, going to Ivy's dresser and picking up a notebook. She hands it to her daughter.] * Ivy frowns and shakes her head. She brightens when she sees the notebook though. She picks up the pencil from the floor and scribbles down, "Jeremy already told you what happened." [Her mother reads this and then says, "Then why was there a power short?"] * Ivy 's eyes dart away from her mom's. Her muscles tense up as she slightly shakes her head. [Jerine frowns. "Ivy..."] * Ivy crouches her shoulders, still not looking her mom's way. [She reaches over and takes Ivy's hand. The one she doesn't write with, anyway.] * Ivy sneaks a peek toward her mom's face, but very slowly and cautiously. [She looks worried. Not horrified.] * Ivy finally eyes her mother's face openly. [There's silence for a bit, then her mother asks, softly, "Did that happen at school, too?"] * Ivy 's muscles, if possible, tense up even more. She slowly nods her head. ["Oh, Ivy." Jerine gives her a big hug, if she lets her.] * Ivy is hugged! Ivy looks... confused. And is still quite tense. ["I'm so sorry. I really am."] * Ivy 's tenseness is slightly rescinding as the confusion of her mom's talking increases. [Jerine pulls back. She looks like she might cry, and she takes a deep breath, composing herself.] * Ivy cocks her head to the side, showing her mom just how confused she is by her reaction. ["It's okay. I have it, too." Jerine raises her hand, and little bits of electricity fly between her fingers, though the lights don't flicker. "See?"] * Ivy blinks... and then blinks again. She turns to look at her moms face after staring at her hands... and blinks a third time. ["It..." There's a pause. "It runs in the family." The voltage dies down.] * Ivy looks even more confused. [Jerine drops her hand and sighs, looking away.] * Ivy is still a good few moments, but then finally puts the pencil back in her hand to write. 'I don't understand.' [She reads that, then says, haltingly, "We're not... I never wanted to have this talk with you, Ivy, but..."] ["We're not completely human." Brief pause. "Your father is, but you and I aren't."] * Ivy 's forehead crinkles up in that confusion again. 'What are we then?' [She laughs a little uneasily. "I guess 'demons' would be the right term."] * Ivy pauses at that, a small frown on her face. 'But I thought only vampires looked human.' [She reads that, then makes a little 'ah' sound. "That's not the case. I'm proof."] * Ivy brings her free hand out in front of her face and eyes it with frown. She puts it down, glances at her mom a split second, and then writes, 'You can control it?' [She reads that, then asks, "Control what?"] 'The' *pause*, 'electricity.' *She scrunches down a bit* 'I hurt him. I didn't mean to.' [Her mother nods, worry crossing her face. "I can." She reaches down and squeezes Ivy's hand. "Do you want to learn? It doesn't look easy for you."] * Ivy looks over to her mom, squeezing a baby bit back. She nods. After a moment, she twitches her nose, and then writes with her free hand, 'Does dad know?' [She nods, slowly.] * Ivy pauses a moment to absorb that. 'Does Jamil know?' ["Yes." She looks down at her and Ivy's hands. "He's one of us, actually."] * Ivy does that blinking thing again. After yet another pause of absorption, 'Why didn't you tell me?' ["We were worried. Not everyone likes us. Not even..." She takes a breath. "Not even our own kind necessarily likes us."] * Ivy deep thoughts it for a second. 'Is that why I can't remember some of our family? I thought it was because,' she stops writing. She scribbles the last bit out. 'I don't remember you talking about them.' [Jerine nods.] * Ivy nods dumbly. She's still a few moments and then writes, 'I don't want him to be scared of me.' ["Jeremy?"] * Ivy nods slowly. [Jerine smiles, very slightly. "Did he see you when you..." She waves vaguely.] * Ivy nods yet again. 'The vampires were hard for him to accept too.' Pause. 'But he knows it's me.' * Ivy blinks, realizing what she wrote. She quickly squibbles out the first sentence. [Too late! Jerine caught it. She's frowning.] * Ivy catches the frown then glances away to start a baby doodle of a flower. Ooh, look at the flower. It's not a vamp! [Jerine sighs and pats Ivy on her hand. "We'll start you on control lessons later."] * Ivy nods. She gives her mom and small smile and then hugs her tight. [She hugs back. "Make sure you get some sleep, okay?"] * Ivy nods. * Ivy stands up, collecting the pad off the floor, and putting it on top of her notebook that she was holding to write on. She slides them both into a drawer and then goes to grab her PJs. [Jerine stands up. She goes to the door, then looks back and smiles a little. "Sweet dreams, Ivy."] * Ivy smiles to her mom as much as she can with her brain on overload, nods, and waves goodnight. [She waves back, then leaves, closing the door behind her.] [Right. Session End!]
