[Look, it's Camila's room! There are still some flowers, but less of them. The card the entire class signed is also still there.] [Camila is there. She seems to be sleeping peacefully, and she's still covered in bandages and hooked up to all sorts of machines. If the beeping's any indication, she's still alive.] [That's about it. Go to it.] * Veronica walks up to the door. She's got two bouquets of flowers with her, one white, one violet. Aww, how sweet. She sucks in her breath as she approaches the door and knocks on it first. [Nobody answers!] * Veronica has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer ) * Khalil has joined #secondstring2 * Khalil is now known as Veronica * Veronica opens up the door on Camila's room and looks in, looking around and then walking forward towards the bedside. "Um, hi." She does note that Camila's not awake, but that doesn't stop her anyways. * Veronica sucks in her breath and looks around for a stool to pull up to the bedside. [There's one step better than a stool. It's actually a chair!] * Khalil has joined #secondstring2 * Veronica has quit IRC (Ping timeout ) * Khalil is now known as Veronica * Veronica steals away the glorious sign of modern comfort and has a good sit. "I, um, didn't know if I should come or not. Actually, I've been arguing with myself for some time." She chuckles slightly and drops her head. "You probably think I'm stupid for doing that, don't ya?" [No response.] * Veronica looks at her and takes in a deep breath. "You know, it seems like everyone at school forgot it happened. I mean, sure, we talked about it for a bit but everyone else just brushed it off like it was nothing. I guess when I look at myself, it seems like I did the same." She fiddles with her hands. "But I didn't. I think about it everyday. And I wonder if I could have gotten there just a second sooner..." * Veronica plants her hands on her knees and squeezes. "It's just... I feel so powerless. All this strange shit is going on, and people act like they just wanna ignore it. Well that's not me. And as much as you wanna think I'm a bitch... That's fine. I don't give a rat's ass what you really think of me but..." She stops midsentence and stays silent for a little while, in her own thoughts. * Veronica recovers on a tangent and slowly holds up the violet flowers. "I got these for you. Do you like them?" * Veronica stands up and looks for a vase while waiting for a response that's probably not coming. Or a change in beeping. [Same old beeping.] (Vase though? Relatively unused?) [Veronica finds an empty vase!] * Veronica puts the flowers in the vase. "I thought purple was your color. I just thought it fit you." She turns around and tries to smile but gets a good look over Camila's body and winces. "Geez..." * Veronica takes a deep breath and goes to the chair. "I really wish you could come back. Damn, I know that's not possible but... no one deserves that. No matter what they think of me..." * Veronica sits back down and puts her hands in front of her between her knees, looking down at the side of the bed. There's another pause before she speaks again, and when she does it's very soft. "Pia was burnt too... She was your friend, wasn't she?" [No response. Camila must hate her!] (That bitch!) (I know!) * Veronica takes in a deep breath. "I don't know what to do. I'm not smart enough. I--I should have done something. I knew it was coming but I--I--" * Veronica hits her fists against the side of the bed, not hard enough to bounce it and taking care not to hit Camila, but hard enough. "Dammit! Dammit dammit dammit. Why does this have to happen now? Why here?" She's almost in tears again. [There's a light knock on the door. "Hello?" The voice on the other side is female.] * Veronica sniffs soft and regains her composure and wipes her eyes with the back of her hand. She makes sure she looks at least a bit better before saying, "Come in." [The door creaks open and Monica peeks in. "Oh, hi Veronica."] * Veronica nods and tries to smile slightly, but it's weak. "Hello. Monica, right?" ["That's me." The door opens more fully and Monica walks in. She's wearing a t-shirt, long black skirt, fishnet stockings, and tennis shoes. In her hands are three bouquets of carnations. "You okay?"] * Veronica sighs. "Yeah. It's just been a hard couple days. You heard it happened again, right?" ["That's why I'm here," Monica says, giving a forced smile. "I just figured... but it looks like one of these are going to waste." She holds up the flowers and laughs. "I guess I can give it to Charlotte tomorrow."] * Veronica nods. "Second degree burns it looked like. Nothing that serious. She didn't go into shock like Pia or Camila." She bites her lip. "I hope she's okay. She was really worried about being able to play for the concert..." [Monica shrugs. She doesn't look so worried. "It's not 'till, like, November, so there's a lot of time." She looks around for a vase and finds one, going to put one third of the flowers in it.] * Veronica looks down a little. "Yeah. But after you get burnt, you get a little hysterical. Especially after seeing two of your friends--" She bites her lip and stops herself, looking aside. [Monica gives Veronica a hard look that she's probably not used to being on the receiving end of. "Yeah, I get it."] * Veronica shakes her head. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't be talking like that. She's your friend too, right? You asked the doctor of any word of when she'd recover? [Monica lets out a breath. "I dunno. I mean, they don't want to tell kids this stuff, you know?" She rolls her eyes. "Anyway, I stole a glance at one of the sheets, and it's looking pretty bad."] ["They said she's stable, and I guess that's true, as far as *that* goes."] * Veronica frowns. "Fourth degree burns, right?" ["Whichever kind is the kind that eats your soul. Heard Pia could've had it that bad, and she's lucky it was just her hair."] ["Her mom's probably going nuts."] * Veronica stares. "Eat your soul? It *says* that?" [Monica looks vaguely puzzled. "No?"] ["I meant it's really bad. I don't think souls are, like, medically recognized."] * Veronica rubs her head and sighs. "I feel so stupid. I'm sorry." [She waves. "Hey, it's cool. Not like I'm the one feeling stupid." Pause. "So... yeah. Fourth period again, huh?"] Yeah. It's like it's a beacon for weird shit and stuff. [Monica nods. "Yeah. How's that *happen*, anyway? Everyone says that all of a sudden, woosh," she gestures, "Someone's on fire! No smoke or anything."] There was just the smell of smoke. We didn't see any. Spontaneous combustion or something. I mean...there's been cases of it happening and such, but two? ["Yeah, that's... that's really weird." Monica frowns.] (We're going into the main channel.)
