01<@Ardweden> [Day: Saturday, September 11. Time: 1:30.] 01<@Ardweden> [It is time... for Javy's private music lesson! There's actually a store in the Square creatively called Winds and Strings that has rooms for it in the back, and that's where his teacher is, so that's where he's headed. Conveniently, it's close to his father's work, so he's been helping out in the shop in the morning.] 01<@Ardweden> [The day's really nice, at least. If a touch chilly. Session Start.] 06* Javy walks over, carrying his oboe case, and wearing a polo shirt with the flower shop name emblazoned on it, and simple brown pants. He's walking with a pretty measured tread. He doesn't think he's running late or anything! 01<@Ardweden> [True, because he's not! He enters the store, which is filled with violins and cellos, oboes and clarinets and flutes - wind and string instruments of all kinds. Also reeds, strings, resin, cases, and everything else needed for upkeep.] 01<@Ardweden> [The store itself has a front room with a counter, where the proprietor is - Mrs. Collins, who looks up and waves cheerfully at Javy as he enters (there's a little bell that jingles!). Closer to the back is another room for even MORE stuff, and behind is one of the rooms Javy's heading for.] 06* Javy gives a small wave in return. "Hey, uh. Hey. Mrs. Collins." He edges towards his room. 01<@Ardweden> ["Afternoon, Javy," Mrs. Collins responds. "Here for your lesson?"] 06* Javy nods, and hefts his case. "Yeah. I'm ready." 01<@Ardweden> [Mrs. Collins, for the record, is a fairly plain woman in her 50's. She's wearing a sweater and slacks, and she has light brown, graying hair tied back in a bun. She points yonder to the lesson rooms. "I think Lily's finishing the lesson before you right now."] 06* Javy nods, and looks over the instruments. "Thanks. Um." He steps over to look at some pre-made reeds. "Uh... slow day?" 01<@Ardweden> ["Yeah, a little. It happens," Collins says with a smile. "How's school going?"] Okay. Um. Lots of stuff. It's... well. The beginning of the year. New people. 01<@Ardweden> ["Yeah?" Collins takes out a cloth and starts dusting a few of the violins. "Did you make any new friends?"] 06* Javy colors a little across his cheeks. "Um. Maybe. A few." 01<@Ardweden> ["That's good," Collins says with a smile.] Yeah. Ah... it's. You know? I just hadn't talked with some of them. Before, I mean. I do now. 01<@Ardweden> ["Found you have something in common, then? It's always good to broaden your horizons."] 06* Javy nods a couple of times, and fingers one of the reeds. 01<@Ardweden> [Right about now, another student comes walking in from the back, case in hand. He's shorter than Javy and has kind of messy black hair; looks a bit like Harry Potter, really. He points to the back. "You're up," he tells Javy.] 06* Javy nods to him. "Okay. Thanks." He looks back at Mrs. Collins, nods politely, and then heads for the room! 01<@Ardweden> [Javy enters the lesson room! Which is well lit if small, with a chair and stand for him, and one for his teacher - Lily Schroeder, a willowy woman with high cheekbones, gray eyes, and short blond hair. She smiles. "Sorry the last lesson went a little long."] 06* Javy nods to her, and smiles back, but straightens a little. "It's okay. I was talking out front." 01<@Ardweden> [Schroeder nods. "Well, let's take out your instrument and start with scales."] 06* Javy thins his lips a little, and nods, taking out his oboe, and fitting a hand-made reed to it. He does a quick check of it, and nods to her, putting it to his lips, getting his fingering in place, and playing some simple scales. 01<@Ardweden> [The lesson proceeds pretty much as normal, first with scales, then exercises, then Javy playing a few pieces he's been working on. Near the end, Schroeder says, "Are you okay, Javy? You're a little off today."] 06* Javy takes the reed from his lips, and grimaces. "Yeah. I hear it too. I think I'm just tired. I haven't, ah, slept well. The past couple of nights, really." 01<@Ardweden> [Schroeder nods. "Well, try to get some rest tonight. You don't want to exhaust yourself."] 06* Javy nods. "I will. And I'll do better for next time." 01<@Ardweden> ["I know you will. Just work on what I told you to for next week," she says with a smile. "We're all allowed our off days."] 06* Javy nods, but looks slightly frustrated. "You're right. But still. It feels bad. I did the Vivaldi better last week." 01<@Ardweden> ["You did, but it's fine," Ms. Schroeder assures him. "Just keep practicing and get some rest, and you'll do better next week."] 06* Javy nods. "All right. I will. For sure." 01<@Ardweden> [Ms. Schroeder nods with a smile.] Should I do the same pieces for next time? 01<@Ardweden> ["Yes, I don't think now's the time to pick any new ones. Maybe next week; you're almost done with the Vivaldi."] Okay. I'll work on those more, then. 01<@Ardweden> ["Good," she says as she starts sorting through the music they've been using. "I'll see you next week."] Okay. Thanks for the lesson. 06* Javy starts packing away his oboe gently. 01<@Ardweden> ["My pleasure, Javy," Ms. Schroeder says with a smile.] 06* Javy smiles back at her, and then sets himself, picks up the case, and heads out of the room. 01<@Ardweden> [Out of the room Javy goes, back to store proper. There, waiting and poking at some music related jewelry, is one Leah Christianson.] 06* Javy stops a couple of steps out of the room. "Hey. Uh, hi, Leah. I'm done." 01<@Ardweden> [She jumps. "Oh! Um." And blushes a little. "Hi, Javy. How'd it go?"] 06* Javy looks slightly frustrated. "It was... um. Okay. Just, well. Not my best day." 01<@Ardweden> ["Oh, yeah. That happens." Leah shuffles her feet a little, then says, "She wasn't mean about it, was she? Sometimes Ms. Schroeder can get pretty cross."] 06* Javy shakes his head, and passes his case to his other hand, half-looking down at her. "Nah, she was pretty nice. About that. I mean, she is usually. But she was here, too. She just said I should do better. For, um. For next week." 01<@Ardweden> [Leah grins. "Nice to you, you mean. You're like her best student."] 06* Javy blushes slightly, and pulls lightly on one ear. "I don't think so. But, um. I try. Anyway, you're pretty good, too." He blushes slightly more, and then mumbles, "Right?" 01<@Ardweden> ["Yeah, I'm pretty good... I mean, I practice. About as much as I'm supposed to." Leah shuffles her feet a little more, then says, "I'd better get going before she thinks I'm late. See you at school, Javy."] 01<@Ardweden> [Leah waves and heads off to face the music.] 06* Javy nods to her. "Good luck. Um. See you." He watches her go in, and then trades the case back to his other hand. 01<@Ardweden> [Leah enters THE ROOM and does not return! Not yet, at least.] 06* Javy stands there for a beat, and then looks around at the rest of the shop. Um. ^^; 01<@Ardweden> [There are a couple of customers! A man and a little girl, who seem to be looking at violins. Mrs. Collins is helping them.] 06* Javy takes a second, then, and heads out, waving to Mrs. Collins as he goes. 01<@Ardweden> [She waves back!] 06* Javy heads back for the flower shop, then! 01<@Ardweden> [Session End!]
