<@Ciara> [Date: Tuesday, February 17th, late afternoon/early evening.] <@Ciara> [Katie has promised Haruko she'd drop off a scanned copy of Council of Mysteries Book Two once she had it ready. Haruko told her to stop by pretty much anytime; if she wasn't in, it was likely Maki would be. Unless it's mealtime, in which case, all bets are off.] <@Ciara> [So Katie is heading for the Tokyo Tech dorms to do just that! And it's not dinnertime (yet) so she'd probably safe.] <@Ciara> [Session Start!] * Katie is going through the halls to deliver a book! She tried calling Haruko's cell, but there was no answer... still. If anything, she figures she can leave it with Maki or whoever. * Katie is in outdoor clothing, as she was just outdoors, and jeans and sneakers. Her scarf/hat/gloves are still on, too. <@Ciara> [Haruko has given Katie their dorm and room number. Sure enough, after a few minutes, Katie finds herself in front of a door with a sign that says "Haruko and Maki's Room." There's a few little doodles of motorcycles on it, as well as a small dry-erase board with a few notes on it, mostly people saying they were sorry they missed Haruko.] * Katie looks the board over, taking notes of names and handwriting. And content, of course. <@Ciara> [Some of it is study group stuff, some of it is Motor Club stuff. One note seems to be from Ken. There's also a doodle of a flower in the corner.] * Katie smiles, a little, then knocks. <@Ciara> [Katie hears someone approach the door, then stop to look out the peephole. Then there's the sound of the lock being turned, and the door opens and there's Maki, in a navy blue t-shirt that says "Tokyo Tech Motor Club" on the front and a pair of medium blue jeans. She smiles on seeing Katie. "Hey. Haruko said you might be stopping by."] * Katie smiles back. "Yeah." She holds up a black binder. "I've got this for her." * Maki steps back from the doorway a bit. "Wanna come in?" Yeah, thanks. * Katie walks in! And looks around, as one does. <@Ciara> [The dorm room is roughly divided in half, with a desk/shelf combo and a bed in the front and another set in the back. The one closer to the door is probably Haruko's, if the state of general disarray is any indication. There's many books, a fairly old-looking computer on the desk, and a small potted bamboo plant, plus the (in)famous FF7 poster of Cloud and his motorcycle. The back half is a bit better-organized, although the bed is unmade.] * Maki picks up a box from the back desk, which has a fair amount of books as well, but is at least very neatly stacked. "Chocolate?" she offers. "I may have gone a bit crazy with post-Valentine's sales." * Katie blinks. "Sure." She goes to set the binder on the other desk, next to probably-Haruko's computer. * Maki grins. "I've been reading up on American traditions. Specifically, the 'let's buy discount chocolate post-holiday candy for yourself' ones." * Katie laughs. "That's listed somewhere as a tradition?" You know, you'd be surprised. Also post-Christmas, Easter, and Halloween, according to the websites I've been checking. Any time there's a lot of candy. I could get to like this. It kind of pains me to be *giving* away food, you know? * Katie raises her eyebrows. "... No?" * Maki snerks. "Ah. For some reason I thought Haruko had told you about my ... hm. Miraculous ability to find free food?" She did mention something like that. I didn't know giving it away was a problem, though. * Maki stretches a bit. "I may exaggerate slightly for comedic purposes." * Katie laughs. "Yeah, since you're offering me chocolate..." Really, though. People don't do that here? Go out and get chocolates the day after Valentine's or White Day? * Maki shrugs. "It seems to be less of a thing. Like, you know, it's embarrassing to have to go out and buy stuff for yourself, I guess?" I guess... if you're embarrassed about liking chocolate. * Maki shakes her head. "Those people must lead sad, sad lives." They exist. It's one of the great tragedies. The only consolation is that it's more chocolate for the rest of us. There is that, yeah. * Katie looks around. "Where's Haruko?" * Maki shrugs again. "Out. That's all I ... wait, it's Tuesday, so it's probably Hibiki. Yep." Oh, good. * Maki raises an eyebrow. "Good?" * Katie removes her gloves, tucking them in a pocket. "She's got a guy who can handle her. More or less." * Maki laughs. "Yeah, I have to give him credit there. Oh, sorry, do you want to sit down? Or do you have someplace you need to go? I don't want to hold you up or anything. You're welcome to stick around if you don't." I'm... fine either way? * Maki chuckles. "Hi, I'm an engineer. We don't social well unless we're Haruko." Oh, it's okay. I can go. I was just here to drop that book off. * Maki thinks for a sec. "Actually, I was contemplating grabbing some dinner, so I could walk partway with you or something." * Katie smiles. "Sure, if you want." It's weird - we were in the same year at Sakuragaoka, but I didn't really talk to you then. * Maki reaches for her jacket, which is on the back of her desk chair. "Yeah, well... we were in different classes, and I wasn't in the same class as Haruko's other friend, either. The one who's in America now. And aside from the Motor Club and some computer stuff, I kind of kept to myself. Haruko and I did some things together but she was always pretty busy and her being in a different year meant we couldn't team up outside of club stuff most of the time." * Katie nods. "Even if we were, we probably wouldn't have talked." * Maki pulls her jacket on and grabs her shoes. "Yeah, probably not. But we're talking now, and that's not bad." Yeah. Not bad. * Katie looks down and notices she left her shoes on. "Even if I am still a barbarian." * Maki laughs. "I won't tell anyone if you won't." She pulls her own shoes on in the middle of the room. "There." * Katie gasps, shielding her eyes. "How could you!" I know, I'm a discredit to my everything. Mostly just Japan. * Maki opens the door for Katie. "It's something I'll just have to live with." * Katie laughs. "Failing your country? I think you can do that." * Katie walks out! * Maki shuts and locks the door behind her. "Guess I'll just have to look into studying abroad." <@Ciara> [End!]
