[Grysar] From: Haruko Kinsha To: Katie Andrews, Kyon Sorata, Kaede Takeuchi, Satoshi Watanabe, Wataru Yamada Date: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 (Afternoon) All, Following up on the Aka meeting, Kyon did a reading with Katie and myself in attendance. We were trying to figure out the nature of Aka's bargain, the one that left him so scared at the end of our tea house discussion. 1) Magician Reversed - Representing Aka, a change from past readings. No longer the master of his own destiny. 2) Death - Past reason for Aka's behavior. Change, possibly changing forever. 3) Devil Reversed - Present reason for Aka's behavior. Trying to break out of old patterns and bonds. Power for himself. Fulfilling promises of change made in the past. Getting what he once had or what he thinks is his due.4) Four of Cups - Potential outcome, re-evaluation. Try a different approach or outlook. This might mean working with us. 5) Ace of Wands Reversed - The default outcome, getting stuck, trapped by selfishness. Thoughts on Aka's motivation: He may want information on Arcana, to be involved with Arcana, or be one himself (we don't think this is possible, change or switch, yes, become, no). Masaru had cut him off from information when he realized Aka couldn't be trusted. Possibly involved Arcana Death Upright/Devil Reversed: We have been told that Saki Morikawa (now Death Reversed/Devil) and the person represented in these two cards both survived the Hiroshima bombing. This person had been attempting to kill her. They were both left changes, cards scrambled. Saki lost her memory and over the years became the reserved rebel who sacrificed herself to prevent the end of the world. We know little about this person and the reading raises the possibility but does not necessarily suggest that this is who Aka made his deal. Katie thinks it probably isn't referencing specific people. We are only certain that it definitely has the thematic meaning. Masaru Uehara is the Ace of Wands. There may be a resonance there, Masaru is dealing with a lot of stuff and was often highly scattered during the bad old days. However, the read I got was that this card was primarily speaking to Aka's risk of being stuck and stagnating. Katie will be speaking with Masaru to fill in some details. Final Note: Left Taki off this one. This is still pretty raw information and not of immediate relevance to her. In addition, combined with the fact that Hinako Arai-san is probing during their meetings. I don't see Hinako-san as an enemy, but the Heirophant does have her own agenda which isn't necessarily aligned with ours. The biggest divergence there is her being a founding member of the new Council without ever informing this set of her old allies. Haruko
