<@Grysar> And so Satoshi, that game went great. Even Liam is like "That's why we have this guy." They're looking to you for what to do celebrate afterwards. What do you do? We are going to go eat something. <@Grysar> Someplace you've been wanting to check out or the usual diner? Let's go check something new out. <@Grysar> But at the diner we can get seven pancakes for five dollars. Five American dollars. Which is cool the first two times you do it. Not so much now. Where are you thinking? Well, there's that seafood place a few blocks over. Been wanting to try that for a while. I've heard it's good, and we've got reason to celebrate tonight, right? <@Grysar> [They're game, so Satoshi, tell us what you know about this place.] There's lobster, there's fish, there's chowder... they do burgers and things like that, too, in case you guys are sick of seafood. Reasonably priced, just a little bit of a walk. <@Grysar> [The walk goes quickly. The place is one of the better affordable seafood ones in town, you can tell because they don't have a Maine pun in the title. There's a fit large steaming vats outside. The interior is a series of smaller rooms and a bar.] <@Grysar> * Liam looks curious after the orders are in. "So Satoshi, I've been wondering. What brought you out here. I mean seafood's good and all, but it's no Pacific ocean." <@Grysar> [There's another couple in the room with you. Maybe juniors or seniors as they're both drinking and this is a place that cards. Looks like they're having an argument about something, though it’s fairly muted.] 06* Satoshi laughs. "Nah, it's not, but I like some of it. Lobster's good. And, well, I wanted to keep seriously playing hockey, and there aren't that many places to do it back home. University of Maine's got a good reputation. It's something new and different." 01<@Ardweden> (How is Satoshi's English these days?) <@Grysar> Sure, that makes sense, but you've come farther than I've ever gone in my life. Man, if my dad wasn't leaving for Texas, I'm not sure my family would have been okay with me coming this far. But your folks are cool with it? <@Grysar> (Good question) (It's quite good. He'd been studying English most of his life and did a few intense courses once he got accepted. And talking to people helps.) 06* Satoshi winces slightly. "My parents got divorced right before high school. My mom left and my dad... did a lot of overseas work before he passed away last year." <@Grysar> (Hmm, give me a hold steady there. He probably needs to work a little to sell that in a social situation.) 2d6+1 06* Dicesuke rolls 2d6+1 for Satoshi and gets a natural 11 for a result of 12. (I keep my cool, and I will carry 1 forward for this scene.) <@Grysar> * Grant winces. "Sorry man, didn't know." * Liam looks like he's got questions but he's not voicing them just now. <@Grysar> [The male of the couple is getting a little louder with the second set of cocktails. Luckily for them the sound is covered when four new people arrive. One guy and three gals, two of them in Bears hockey jerseys. They take a seat but one of them is looking your way, processing.] Nah, it's... well, it'd probably come up sooner or later. Um. So was your dad going to Kentucky for a job thing? <@Grysar> Yeah, we've got a house back in Detroit, but aren't many jobs there. It's sad, but I think I got to get out too. Think I'll have to find someplace new after I graduate. Hopefully go pro. 06* Satoshi raises his glass. "To going pro." <@Grysar> * The young brunette fan stage whispers over to her friends. "Hey they're totally on the team." <@Grysar> * Liam and Grant join in without reservation. <@Grysar> [So the rest of the meal goes nicely, the food is great. The couple nearby seems mostly content to just drink and glare. As you're getting ready to leave one of the girls in the jerseys come overs. She's got shortcropped brown hair.] <@Grysar> Hey, you guys are on the team, right? Yeah, we are. I'm Satoshi, and this is Grant and Liam. <@Grysar> Hell-o. * Grant breaks out his winning smile. "Yes ma'am." <@Grysar> I'm Elise. I've been going to games for a couple years, but I gotta say, I'm real excited about the fresh meat this year. * Elise's friend, freshmen in a knit sweater, giggles. Her male friend just looks bemused. 06* Satoshi blushes slightly. "Um, did you mean freshmen?" <@Grysar> [Meanwhile the angry guy at the other table slaps down a $20. "Fine, you can walk home them." He heads to the door, taking out his keys leaving his date and finished lobster behind.] <@Grysar> We both know what she means, Sato. But yeah, *some* of us are even the full package, sports and academics, I'm planning to finish in three years, so I don't have to wait to go pro. <@Grysar> * Grant rolls his eyes but seems distracted by Elise's guy friend, who is eagerly talking about one of his blocks. Well, that's admirable. I'm still trying to get this whole university thing figured out. <@Grysar> * Elise smiles at that, but seems to be paying more attention to Liam. "Right, well, sign my jersey?" <@Grysar> * Angry guy pushes by your throng of fans, bumping the third young woman, who looks like she might be Korean. 06* Satoshi looks over at the third girl. "You okay?" <@Grysar> Yeah I guess. [She moves irritatedly as the "gentleman" stoops down to pick up the car keys he drops.] I said sorrish. Gets off my case. <@Grysar> * Liam steps up. "I don't think you did say sorry, actually. I realize non-apologies might be acceptable in America, but I've got a higher standard." (Okay! It is now time to read a sitch!) 2d6+2 06* Dicesuke rolls 2d6+2 for Satoshi and gets a natural 2 for a result of 4. (That did not go well!) <@Grysar> * Satoshi appraises the situation and then suddenly realizes he recognizes the drunk. He's been at a few hockey games before, in seats reserved for the muckety-mucks. <@Grysar> * Drunk looks Liam up and down and makes a surprisingly wise decision. "Sorry. There. Happy's now? I'm out." He tries to get around the offensive lineman. 06* Satoshi looks at Liam. "It's cool?" <@Grysar> (Manipulate NPC roll!) 2d6+1 06* Dicesuke rolls 2d6+1 for Satoshi and gets a natural 7 for a result of 8. (I note that I have used sharp and hot now.) <@Grysar> [For the record, his date is just burying her head in the table. She looks like she's contemplating hiding under it.] <@Grysar> * Liam shoots back a "not cool" look, but he doesn't act. He looks like he wants more from Satoshi. 01<@Ardweden> (You have!) <@Grysar> * Liam has been known to be a bit more aggressive in the presence of distaff fans, when opportunities to impress arise. Emphasis is on the impress, not the aggression though. I know you could take this guy, but he did apologize. Like you asked him to. <@Grysar> * Liam nods and steps back. "Right, try not to hit anyone on your way home, ass." He looks to the third girl who seems satisfied. <@Grysar> * Drunk continues to remember Liam's performance in the game and heads to the door. <@Grysar> * Elise frowns at the comment and seems torn. <@Grysar> (Anything else Satoshi, or ready to get back to your fans?) (Uh, fans, I guess. Sorry, I'm a bit rusty at playing him.) 01<@Ardweden> (Is all good!) <@Grysar> [A waitress has chat with the woman left with most of the check and you guys take carry-on your conversation outside. Elise seems happy to get autographs from all three, although Liam is a bit risque in choosing his spot. Grant has the best signature though. Anything you want to do before people split up?] 06* Satoshi looks at the rest of the group. "So, I didn't catch your names." <@Grysar> [Elise (she looking for fresh meet), Jane (her younger friend), Bill (the goalie fan), and Ji-yun (the jostled girl).] It's nice to meet you all, and I hope to see you at more games. <@Grysar> (Checked in person, not counting that as enticing since it's more social.) <@Grysar> [And you guys get a few more followers on Friendster or whatever the kids were using those days. Liam seems like he's ready to walk off with Elise, but she lets him know she has other plans, "At least tonight." He'll take it. End scene.]
