<@Grysar> [Date: 5/10/2004. The night after Haruko's party and the night before Satoshi's return to Japan.] <@Grysar> [The weather outside on this Monday mostly sunny, but how fares Katie's countenance when a box arrives in the mail from Osaka?] <@Grysar> [We'll cut straight to Kyon's arrival home, perhaps she's opened it by now, perhaps not. Contents: http://bacon.sandwich.net/ardweden/neoarcana/logs/neoarcana222.txt ] <@Grysar> [Start!] * Katie is there, at the kitchen table. She's just opened the box and is looking at the contents. Cookies, sure, it's Taki all over. * Kyon takes his shoes off, and calls out, "Tadaima," before retrieving his bag from by the doorway and making his way inside. He's wearing a light grey jacket over a navy shirt, and dark pants. * Katie calls, "Welcome home." And then, "Taki wants dating advice from you. For her girlfriend." * Kyon snorts a laugh as he comes into the kitchen, and then pauses, raising his eyebrows disbelievingly. * Katie holds up Taki's postcard to Kyon, for him to see. "'Just think of whatever the teleporting Knight would do,'" she says, with a pretty good imitation of his inflection. "'And then do the opposite.'" * Kyon takes it out of her hand, reading it over. "Huh." * Katie flops in one of the chairs and opens her package of cookies, taking one. * Kyon glances down at the cookies. "What kind are those?" he asks as he goes to get a pitcher of tea from the refrigerator. * Katie inspects hers. "Jam-filled sandwich cookies. They look good." * Kyon nods, and brings them out the tea, and some cups, before sitting down at the table. "Probably are." He takes up the postcard again in between two fingers, and reads it again. Yeah. She's good at pretty much one thing. * Katie pours some tea for herself and has a sip before biting into her cookie. * Kyon nods back curtly, and thinks for a beat. "So. I should find the right person here." * Katie eyebrow raises. "You're going to help her?" * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Why not. Easy enough to do. Won't take too much time. Good for the connections. Might as well." * Katie nods, accepting this easily enough. "Who'd you have in mind?" * Kyon sets down the card, and picks up a cookie with the same two fingers he used for the card. "Someone with good manners. Not too great looking, but cleans up nice. And that won't mind filling in on something like this. Should take a moment to think." * Katie mphs around her cookie. She doesn't have anyone easily in mind, and she wouldn't offer him anyway. She has more tea. * Kyon taps his cookie against his cup. "There's a guy who works at the publishing company. Talked with him a couple of times at functions. He'd work." * Katie tilts her head in a 'go on' way and finishes her cookie. * Kyon takes a bite, and leans an elbow on the table. "Good-looking, but not overly so. Good dresser, wants to make new connections for the future. Good at conversation. But not doing anything that'd be too impressive for now." Huh. * Katie picks up the postcard and reads it again. "You think he'd want to do it?" It's a fancy dinner. That means he probably meets useful people there. I ask him to do it, he can ask me for something in the future, but nothing too big. * Katie nods. She puts the card back down. "They're your connections." * Kyon raises an eyebrows now. "Think I shouldn't?" I think this is all pretty dumb, and worse, Taki's kind of dumb. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't. * Kyon smirks, and ticks points off on his fingers. "I score some points for letting people do things they want, I don't have to do much more than a phone call, I don't owe too much in exchange." He picks up his tea. "So why not?" * Katie lets out a small laugh. "Why not," she repeats. * Kyon looks at her, amused. "Whether it's dumb or not." Her own fault. * Katie takes another cookie. They're good! * Kyon nods back. "So. I'll go with it. I'll check with him, see if he's game, and then let her know." Sounds like a plan. <@Grysar> [End!]
