[Grysar] To: Kyon Sorata, Katie Andrews From: Haruko Kinsha Date: Morning of 5/10/2004 Subject: Hibiki update (Encrypted) Morning, Thanks again for coming to the party and for my remarkable new drawing/painting! My room really feels like my home after this, and it's given me much to contemplate. As you may have noticed, Hibiki did not end up making the party. He did come, and we chatted outside for a bit. Thanks again for talking to him, Kyon, and for your advice. They didn't result in some dramatic reconciliation, but did make things more straightforward in a good way. After that talk, in the sober light of morning, and given his walking away from my/Mario Karts charms, I've ultimately decided to murder him so I can return to my people. I'm hoping this might help me regain the power to influence the weather, but hard to be sure with these sorts of things. <3s. Haruko p.s. Seriously, I think he's accepted who I am and has more of a sense of who he might be. I did tell him briefly about Shuffle and your candidacies. I don't think he'll sign up, though I did offer to show him on the computer later. Also, this may be Takeuchi's influence, but I did say we wouldn't ask him to join. I do think it's a bit like what you said before the big battle Katie when we decided not to pull him in then. To the extent people have managed to just stay out, and aren't abusing their powers, we should let them be. I don't respect the choice of ignorance and denial, but an informed choice to stay out is not the same at all. That said, in the end he did choose avoiding spectacle over being with me. And while it's not normally flattering to be compared to an amusement park attraction, I feel I should hold my hand high and warn any prospective suitors that they must be this brave to ride. If he fulfills his commitment and does participate in the ensemble for Shin-Okubo story, I'd be open should he reconsider that decision. But I think it's time to chase my dreams and projects for a while. If any guys want to catch me, their welcome to try to keep up, but I'm not changing my direction for them. It'll be lonely sometimes, but friends help for much of that. Thanks to your help, I may even be able to count him as one. --- [Capfox] To: Haruko Kinsha, Katie Andrews From: Kyon Sorata Date: Late Morning of 5/10/2004 Subject: Re: Hibiki update (Encrypted) Just writing quickly to say I got this. Appreciate the update, sorry it didn't go the way you wanted. There'll be other people. Leave off the murdering unless the friendship doesn't work out. Then we can talk. Text me if you need to talk more. Sorata --- [Ardweden] To: Haruko Kinsha, Kyon Sorata From: Katie Andrews Date: Early Morning of 5/11/2004 Subject: Re: Hibiki update (Encrypted) Sorry it didn't work out Haruko. I really thought you guys had a chance but I think that assumed some stuff that just wasn't true. Also I never dated you & I only went out with Ken the once so I guess there was limited information on my part. Still I'm sorry my advice was maybe not the best. I'm glad he did show up at the party and you guys talked. Discussing powers & stuff sounds like it was a very good idea. Then he'll at least be aware. Bringing up the election stuff to him at the same time, not so much. Ken is entering a new world that he tried to deny at every turn. Now that he's there what's concrete is best. Politics are too abstract. It's like Wataru. Wataru can only hold so much information at once. Ken is the same way. He might have decided he's receptive now but there's a lot to take in & it should be ordered in what's most important for him to know now, about him and you, to least. I do hope you can stay friends if you want to stay friends. I'm glad you like the painting. It was a lot of work. Mixed media is hard! Katie P.S. We should catch up on stuff sometime. I know you're really busy but let me know. --- [Grysar] Haruko is heartened by both emails and had done an early draft or two before the Katie response had come through. She spends some time revising the post scripts and initial line in particular. To: Katie Andrews, Kyon Sorata From: Haruko Kinsha Date: Morning of 5/11/2004 Subject: Re: Hibiki update (Encrypted) Katie and Kyon, Thank you both for your responses, it means at least as much as you know, probably more. If either of you are planning to go to Narita for Satoshi, we could go together if it fits your plans. Katie, Thank you for your insights, they all ring true to me. I don't regret bringing up the election, because the way Kaede, Taki, and Satoshi have shied away from it makes me feel like I have a duty to warn Hibiki. But you've made me realize it's unfair of me to question his courage. I'll try to implement your approach to both Yamada and Hibiki, which means being patient with both, and also probably not talking so much. The one- thing-at-time approach would also works quicker if given attention in abundance. That's the thing boys seem to want from me and the thing that I find harder than exclusivity or blunt honesty to give. I'm not willing to sacrifice the things I give attention to now. I don't think it's true of all men, but it's also the reason I don't think I'll be on the hunt anytime soon. Beyond Narita, we're both busy, but we should make the time. [Haruko lists some upcoming dates.] Do you want to just hang out at you apartment or maybe go out and do something fun but not crowded? Always happy to drive you somewhere. Finally, I'll send out a planning email for the lake trip once Satoshi is home. Haruko p.s. Katie, apology not needed nor accepted, your advice was fine, properly caveated, and I've felt I've learned and grown. I am curious about your mistaken assumptions, at least those regarding me, and would be interested in hearing them, though I trust your judgment there and maybe only one-on-one for my pride's sake. p.p.s. I'm sure I'd make even more incorrect assumptions about dating you. I know I'd be intimidated dating someone with super senses and an artistic eye. I do enjoy being able to wear coveralls or simple stuff when I work, and playing dress-up sometimes when I go out with dates, or friends really, and I'd probably need like a month to calibrate because concealer ain't concealing anything. p.p.p.s. Otsukaresama desu for all that went into your gift, my gratitude is eternal! If you care to pull back the curtain, what makes mixed media so hard? If it's like engineering with mixed materials, I'd guess it's that techniques that work with the one can be counterproductive with another, and borders are never really as clean as we'd like them to be.
