[Grysar] From: Haruko Kinsha To: Kyon Sorata, Katie Andrews Date: Evening of Friday May 14th Subject: Campaigning update (Encrypted Email) Good evening, As of the party, I'd spoken with: * Winston (wants to avoid politics, but will if his vote is needed) * Hibiki (newly accepting status of as Arcana, but I won't push him unless he expresses an interest in shuffle. * Matthias (I left to Kyon, spoke with him about his campaign. He wasn't seeking even positive mentions when I was out campaigning. His focus is fair and open, he's critical of the secrecy). On Wednesday, I spoke with my Councilmember, Yumi Maeda, the Two of Cups. She was calm and inquisitive, and gave the impression of someone that was in a bit over their head but was trying to remedy that. I did not have the chance to speak with Yuji, but she took notes for him. She is definitely grateful for the rescue, but she remembers relatively little of that time. She pushed back when I made the argument for Kyon, noting that the competition also shared the traits of leadership and steadiness. When arguing for your specific methods, she did take a shot at "ingratiating behavior to Councilmember Nekotami after hours." I don't see why men and women can't work together outside of working hours, but I guess the past makes this a possible line of attack. She was receptive to Katie's anti-impunity agenda. She wasn't willing to endorse at this time, but was interested in speaking more with you. (Side note: I didn't figure out if Councilmembers Maeda get one vote or two). Earlier today I spoke with Hirokazu. He's running and isn't aware of any with no competitors thus far. Specifically he hopes to be acknowledged by Yorihisa and help people with powers and stuff. This seems like a recipe for heartbreak. He was supportive of Katie's agenda, was curious about how Kyon felt about it and I cited your actions putting yourself on the line to protect others. He might be interested talking with you Kyon. He'd like our votes but I made no promises. [MC note: Kaede had found out some information about other contenders, but they haven't really been campaigning yet. That had been in the lead up to the 5/11 session.] Finally this evening I spoke with Sumire. She's definitely doing her homework and has read up some about the King of Swords, referring to cryptic posts about overthrowing the system. Takeo-san wants her to run; she had not rejected the idea out of hand. She did note why people may be skeptical of Shuffle and even consider supporting the more radical approaches of the KIng of Swords. I think at the end of the conversation she was leaning towards Katie support, not opposed to Kyon support, and probably not going to run for the Sword seat herself. She has an interest in past Arcana, I shared some about Isao-sama, might be something to discuss with her if you wish to seal her support. Going forward: * I think I've reached the limit of what I can do on solo outreach, I had hoped for better. * Some follow-up may help, I think Councilmember Maeda may be a priority. * I think you may want to develop an agenda Kyon or perhaps a public event to answer questions. Maybe both. * The secrecy and exclusion side of things resonates. If I may make a suggestion, Kyon, you might want to consider getting Yamada-san's help on the Taki leaks matter. He mentioned to me that he does enjoy puzzles, and I think his powers might be a great benefit there. I don't know how tied up Yamagata-san is with all that, but Yorihisa seems up to his neck in it. Haruko --- [That same evening, Katie is notified that she's received a secure message on Shuffle. Logging on reveals that the source is Hiromi and that she signs her shuffle messages Councilmember Nekotani. The email itself is just a quick note informing Katie that she's attached a scanned copy of the minutes for the Council meeting with the King of Swords. ( http://bacon.sandwich.net/ardweden/neoarcana/other/Council2018_04_28_minu tes.html ) She also notes in a postscript that she looks forward to Sorata-kun's upcoming briefing on how he proposes to put one of their common agenda items into practice.]
