[Thursday, January 15, 2004. Evening (Japan) / Morning (Maine)] [Katie sees the following e-mail from Satoshi to the general Arcana group and in response to one Haruko had recently sent: "Regarding skills and memories, I think it's just that I was in a new situation that turned out to be slightly less new than I was expecting. This isn't something that's been happening more often. Also remember that in my case it's not just amnesia; I've apparently also got memories that are false. The thing is that I don't know which ones are false, aside from the ones that were explicitly pointed out to me by Winston, and even those don't feel "wrong." I'd really rather not talk about this more over e-mail, though. If you guys are still curious you can ask me the next time I talk with you." Signed, "Satoshi"] [She checks the instant message client that she and Satoshi share and sees that Watanabe9's online.] * Katie sends Satoshi an instant message after reading his most recent e- mail to the group: "You ok?" * Satoshi messages back. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay. I just... I wasn't really expecting that, and... I guess I wanted them - well, Haruko, mostly - to remember that it's not just an abstract thing." * Katie's message pings back quickly: "If she doesn't back off I'll get her to stop." No no, it's fine. If she keeps going I'll talk to her about it. I think she understands now, though. ok. Ardweden: And then ten-fifteen minutes later, Katie asks him what classes he's taking. She's deflecting the conversation but letting him know that she's still here. Ciara: Which I think subconsciously he picks up on and is grateful for. And also he can tell her that he's excited about English, and is it weird that he's excited about English? Is he showing off too much, trying to be all bilingual and stuff? I wouldn't be excited about English, but if you're excited that's fine. Maybe you'll like essays about books and fake people more than chemistry. The periodic table still haunts me in my sleep. That's because you found the mystery element at the end. Spookium. ...I *knew* something was weird about that book I was using to study. The one with the weird diagram on the cover. ALWAYS CHECK THE COPYRIGHT DATE SATOSHI [Insert ghost ascii art from a katrew] ...1627. Whoops! Now you're fucked. Hope you enjoy haunting that hockey rink. There are worse places! yeah but you wouldn't be able to play. Your greatest regreeeeeet. I can be a ghost coaach. "Shooooooooooot riiiiiiiiiiight haaaaaaaaaaaaandeeeeeeeed." omg It's a living. After-living? afterliving. Do ghosts get paid? kind of think that would be pointless. Probably they don't. Maybe they just like it when people are like, "Great work, ghost!" instead of being all "AAAH!" Seems thankless. You should find an exorcist. I could ask Haruko. She probably knows somebody. Be tougher overseas though... True. Plane tickets aren't cheap. I don't know. Nothing I can do to help. Sorry. I'll tell everyone you loved them. Oh well. At least I went out with a passing grade in Chemistry. Your greatest achievement! I'm still really happy about that. So am I! I mean, not that I let myself get that far behind, but that we pulled it off. Thank you so much again. And it's not happening this semester. I am determined to not slack off. Also the fact that I'm not going to be juggling games and finals this time is going to help. Yeah it probably will. Still let me know if you have trouble, ok? Sometimes it helps to have someone else look at things. Sure thing. Maybe I can send you a few of my English assignments to look over? Only if you've got time, though. I know you're busy. And Grant and/or Liam can probably help out, too. Sure. idk how much I can help you but I'll try. Thanks. And if you look at it and go, "Eh, not really up for this," that's cool, too. Basically I just want some native English speakers to check things over. Sure, no problem. [And then conversation petered off and they went about their individual lives.] [End!]
