Appearance and Personality

Jürgen appears to be an attractive man in his mid-30s. he has shortly trimmed, blonde hair, dresses in extravagant clothing when holding court, and in extravagant armor when on the battlefield. He has an air of superiority that permeates all his interactions with others. He is welcoming to his guests, certainly, but ruthless to his enemies. He is known to reward those who deems loyal and helpful, but perhaps only because he knows that through those rewards, he will gain stronger loyalty. He has always desired to rule and he has gotten where he is through cunning and strength, and it shows.

History

Born in 955 to a noble family, Jürgen always dreamed of one day ruling a kingdom. He would wage war with nearby lords, expanding his claims, and in court, he was as ruthless as on the battlefield. He got his wish to rule when he attracted the attention of a Ventrue named Hardestadt, who saw great promise in Jürgen, and embraced him in 989. Jürgen was then asked to accompany the Ventrue conquerer on his crusades. Jürgen's prowess in combat only grew stronger with his new found powers, and his position as a leader of a shadow brotherhood within the Knights Templar called "The Knights of the Black Cross" and his possession of a rather unique sword, earned him the title "the Sword-bearer."

While in command of this order, Jürgen recruited a young woman named Lucretia Von Hartz, who became the most loyal of his knights. Together he and Lucretia led the brotherhood to conquest after conquest. Eventually, Jürgen looked to expand the power given to him by Hardestadt and fulfill his desire to have a kingdom of his own. Since many Ventrue already ruled the lands to the west, he chose to expand eastward, using his knowledge from the crusades to aid in the conquest of the eastern lands. He, with the help of Lucretia and the Knights of the Black Cross conquered and established a court in Buda, the capital city of Hungary, where Jürgen has ruled since around 1100 A.D.

Since that time, Jürgen has consistently been at war with the Tzimisce forces to the east, especially Lambach Ruthven who wishes to keep the Ventrue ruler out of his domain, and, in fact, has been making moves to conquer Hungary for the Tzimisce. Since Jürgen must continue to maintain stability in his capital, he has tasked Lucretia with the command of his forces abroad. In 1214 a young Lasombra woman named Valerie entered Jürgen's court and quickly and mysteriously became one of his most trusted advisors. When the war between The Masquerade and New Carthage began, Valerie swore her allegiance to Jürgen, betraying her own clan. She is now ever at Jürgen's side and is his eyes and ears in his city.
