<@Dreol> [Buda, Hungary, April 12th 1262, 9:30 PM] <@Dreol> [Rolf left at dusk with Klaud and Anstace has decided to go with Varyn to discuss the art of weapons with Cecilia, leaving Eliana and Moriel to decide what to do with their evening. There is no official goings on at court tonight. They have access to much of the manor, including the dungeon, the library, the armory, or they could, of course, leave the manor and go outside. We shall see what <@Dreol> they decide to do!] <@Dreol> [Begin!] 06* Moriel knocks on Eliana's door, which is conveniently near his. 06* Eliana answers the door after a few moments, hair a tangled disaster and a large book under one arm. 06* Eliana blinks at Moriel. "Moriel MacRae. Good evening." 06* Moriel blinks briefly at Eliana's hair in turn before greeting her more normally. "Good evening, Eliana Casale," he says with a smile. "I thought I would visit the castle library to see if it included anything about this dragon prophecy. Would you care to join me?" 06* Eliana nods, bringing one hand up to tuck some of hair behind her ear. "I'll meet you there." 06* Moriel nods at her. "All right." 06* Moriel heads to the library as Eliana shuts the door behind him. 06* Eliana sure did! She shut that door1 01 ! <@Dreol> [The library is massive. The whole right wall is lined with books. Strangely there is a headless knight with a rapier walking back and forth while a small man who appears to be half-flea leaps about- Oh wait no... that's castlevania. Okay Jurgen's library is a large, circular room with several large, rectangular wooden tables in the center with benches. it takes up two floors of the manor and the shelves that line the circular walls are filled with books. There is no one in the library currently.] 06* Moriel picks a table and sets down the paper and writing materials he was carrying in case he wanted to make any notes. Then he starts walking around the shelves, trying to figure out what section and books might contain useful information. <@Dreol> [There are a number of scrolls and tomes about Transylvanian history.] <@Dreol> [As well as very few tomes on vampire prophecies.] 06* Moriel takes down the books on vampire prophecies as well as a few on Transylvanian history and brings them to his table to start looking through them. <@Dreol> [One of the tomes Moriel finds that look interesting discusses a Transylvanian kindred prophet named Yorak. It says he is the high priest of someplace called "The Cathedral of Flesh"] 06* Eliana enters the library once Moriel's firmly settled in to read. "Have you found anything?" she asks in Gaelic, as she moves to sit across from him. 06* Moriel makes a note, then looks up as Eliana settles herself across from him. "Not much." 06* Moriel waves a hand at the stacks of books around him. "A few books on Kindred prophets, more on Transylvanian history. I did find mention of a Transylvanian prophet named Yorak who is apparently the high priest of the Cathedral of Flesh, whatever that is." 06* Moriel is also speaking in Gaelic, for the record. 01 Sounds unpleasant. I almost hope it refers to carnal desires of the more mundane kind. 06* Eliana removes her gloves and takes one of the books, looking at the title before flipping it open. 06* Moriel nods agreement before turning back to the book he was working his way through. <@Dreol> [Eliana pores over the research Moriel has gathered and also gathers some additional scrolls. She discovers that this Yorak prophesied that a time would come when the Tzimisce would rise up and take over the east. This would be called "the time of the dragon" and it would be heralded by a powerful vampire who would, himself, be called "The Dragon." This kindred would lead a bloody campaign <@Dreol> across the world and the streets would run with blood. He will give rise to human suspicions of vampires at a time when belief in vampires is waning, and he will become the most famous kindred in kine lore for centuries. Further, Eliana discovered that this "dragon" is said to be sired by a kindred who unites thousands of his kind against a singular enemy.] 06* Eliana researches and reads, occasionally saying, "Read this," or "Here, I need more," handing open books and scrolls to Moriel before she goes to find more sources. At first she pays attention to the language they're in, but eventually she forgets to do that. Good thing most are in Latin. 06* Moriel makes notes on the things Eliana hands him - at least, the ones he can read. The ones he can't he sets aside until she has a spare moment. 06* Moriel then neatly closes the books and re-rolls the scrolls they're done with and replaces them where they belong. 06* Eliana starts slowing down after a few hours. She looks at Moriel's notes, makes a small noise, and then takes them to add a number of her own. 06* Eliana messes up the paper with oddly spaced notes under and next to Moriel's lovely calligraphy. 06* Moriel watches Eliana for a bit, then looks back down at one of his previous pages. "Hm. This could explain why the Tzimisce prisoner said Ruthven had thousands of troops. It's strange, though; I didn't think human belief in our kind was waning." I wonder if Ruthven believes he will sire the Dragon himself. 06* Eliana doesn't look up from her writing. "Not yet. If the Masquerade continues apace and we defeat Carthage, it will." 01 (Swap those.) 06* Eliana looks up at Moriel. "Perhaps." She puts a dot at the end of a sentence and sets the quill aside. 06* Moriel nods. "I thought that, too. But we have not, so I'm not sure why Ruthven believes this prophecy will be coming true soon." 06* Eliana shrugs with one shoulder. "It depends on how soon. And there is also the possibility that he has already sired this Dragon, or that Ruthven is the Dragon himself." 01 Or that Troile or Moloch could sire the Dragon. 06* Eliana taps at the notes with one finger. "Or, for that matter, even Mithras. At its heart, what we have is conjecture, but we are more educated than before." 01 We should speak with the prisoner. 06* Moriel starts to nod and then stops abruptly when Eliana mentions speaking to the prisoner. After a short pause he says, "You can, if you wish." Another pause. "I am sure it would be useful, but I . . . prefer not to." 01 No? Why not? 06* Moriel is very still, though his muscles are obviously winding themselves tighter and tighter the longer he sits there without answering. Finally he says softly, "I know more than I care to about how men's wills are broken already." 06* Eliana watches Moriel, and at his words, she frowns slightly. "I see," she says after a few moments. 01 Then don't. 06* Moriel nods and starts gathering up their notes. "Tell me what you find out." 06* Eliana stands and picks up her gloves. "Rest," she tells Moriel, still in Gaelic, before she turns and strides purposefully out of the library. <@Dreol> [Session End]
